Gameplay and overview of the FOURTEENTH stuff pack for The Sims 4. What kind of rodents do you get? How much content is locked away if you don't have Cats & Dogs installed? Who cares!

To clarify a point I brought up about disliking the idea of packs mixing content that is both -for DLC-owners- and -for everyone. - It's all about context.
As an example, in Jungle Adventures I mentioned that having some new outfits for cats and dogs would've been nice. But here I'm saying that including them is off-putting. Here's an expansion (pardon the pun) on my thought process:
In my mind, including a few bonus pet outfits in an unrelated and _much larger_ game pack would be nice as a nod to C&D owners, much like how Jungle Adventures and other packs have included new foods to use with Dine Out restaurants if you happen to own that. It'd be a small extra thing for certain players, but not a significant focus of the pack.
However, the fact that _SO MUCH_ of My First Pet stuff is only available to Cats & Dogs owners is another story and feels manipulative. It's selling a sizable chunk of its content to certain customers and potentially shafting others, whereas Jungle Adventures has plenty for everyone to dive into regardless of what you own.
As I briefly mentioned in the video, I'd be happier if the DLC was _only_ for Cats & Dogs owners, since that way there is no splitting of the player base and making non-owners of the expansion feel pressured to buy another $40 pack to access everything they bought. I'd be down for, say, a pack of large new districts for City Living. _Provided_ that it's clearly and primarily meant for City Living owners and isn't locking away a big chunk of its content while providing something smaller to tease everyone else (ie, hamsters)
I apologize if there was any confusion as I don't want to come off as inconsistent. But well, I have inconsistent ideas about The Sims 4 as you might imagine. Communicating ideas consistently is tough when you're talking about subjective opinions on separate context-sensitive packs, since my point of view changes with each pack. What I thought about something in the past can very easily change in the future!

The entire Sims series is an experiment of how much money EA can make with minimal effort. From the removal of the Create a World tool to the recycling of old expansion packs it's always very low effort. However after owning every Sims game and buying fewer expansions each time Sims 4 is the first time I started buying the game 6 years after release because I didn't want to get EA origin and it only recently came to Steam. I can't deny however that it's always an expected dissapointment to see how much content was lost due to the restarting of the game. From Pets to Vacations to Apartments it's always expected that a -new game- comes with considerable downgrades compared to the previous game with all the expansions but EA really set a new low this time with how much was cut just from the basic sims 3 to the basic sims 4.

that cage is also completely wrong for rats! it doesn-t give enough ventilation for them and they are climbers, so the taller the cage the better (this cage isn-t tall at all) the sand bath is unnecessary, and actually harmful. rats have very sensitive respiratory systems, and sand all up in their lungs in the last thing they need. also rats are social animals you NEED at least two rats in one enclosure. it-s also worth mentioning that the hamster cage has absolutely no bedding? hamsters need at least 6 inches of bedding because they like to burrow. as a rodent owner this makes me kinda mad and upset, even though this is just a game it-s advertising completely incorrect care for these rodents.

At first I thought they're gonna give us at least turtles and snakes again. Realizing that's not the case, I was like -Well, ok, dissapointing, but at least the rodents. Can't wait to recreate my degu in the sims. - Uhm, this pack comes with only a RAT, HAMSTER AND A HEDGEHOG? + Alien freak from space. Like. Excuse me, but what is this. No guinea pigs, no degus, no chinchillas, no mice, you get the point. Not even rabbits or bunnies, tho they're not rodents. Can't wait for EA to make an expansion to this expansion that is already an expansion to an expansion.

The -Pinkie & the Brain- thing is cute, but even just having DISTINCT habitats and gameplay and lifestyle options for different small pets (on which note, a hedgehog is not a rodent) would have made this pack a lot more palatable. The Sims franchise has been reskinning small pets for ages. If Cats & Dogs didn't include horses or gerbils or parrots or lizards or whathaveyou, they could have at least made the small pets different. Rats do not live alone and rarely run in wheels. Hedgehogs and hamsters need somewhere to burrow and dig. Etc.

lmaoooooooooo
seems to me like they should have put all the obvious Pets stuff into Pets to begin with, and just released this pack (with maybe a few more rodent related options, as a new Rodents pack, like maybe with pest mice as well? Cuz TBH i kinda want this JUST for the funny hamster pinky n the brain shenanigans, but it's just such a punch in the ballz to pay for all those dumb animal outfits when i dont even have (or wish to have) Pets.

I was going to get this on my PS4 Sims4 but found out yes it requires cats and dogs witch I don-t have any expansions or stuff packs game packs sadly except parenthood I just got yesterday. I have it for pc most of the packs but it didn-t come with an update for lizards? I-m disappointed that there isn-t that-s why I was looking forward to playing it!

Sims 3 Pets: cats, dogs, horses, lizards, turtles, snakes, birds, deer, raccoons (none of which are confined to a terrarium and can be caught in the wild)
Sims 4: dogs and cats. For $40. Then rodents that don-t do anything and the rest of the stuff they didn-t give you before, for another $10.
It-s a trap.

Man, this pack bothers me >: ( I would have loved to have the minor pets and some of the furniture from this back, but since I don't need any of the pets clothing, I am not going to buy this. That would be a complete waste of money, in my opinion. Still, this review was fun to watch, as always. :D

I'll be honest 2 of my sims died. I wasn't expecting it to actually upset me like it did. I don't think I want to go through losing a pet in game although I do have 2 cats in game. BTW if you have 2 pets, make sure you have 2 bowls and 2 bed because I didn't, and they had really nasty fights.
