This brings to my mind a serene scene: A stained wood and red felt suite; its hardwood wall shelves groaning to contain a wealth of yellowed and wood-grain tech goodness and its reams of pleasing-scented-plastic-bound additional help documentation. After entering this wondrously musty tech library and kindling a fire in its hearth, you carry your delicious hot drink/brandy/ice cold soda to the viewing chair to peruse for an LGR video. You eye a masterful expose on the classic BMC BM-12A; -A green monocrome monitor? How quaint! - you muse aloud, as you start the video. Awash in your reverie whilst the intro plays, you look down at and admire the inverted image of the timeless slogan placed upon the shirt visible between the folds of your velour smoking jacket:

That looks uncannily like a Philco B/W TV that my aunt and uncle had in their cabin back in the 80's and 90's. I fondly remember fiddling with the knobs until the sound would stop crackling and the picture would clear up so as to play some Pole Position II on my Atari 7800. Good times! I don't know if Philco was the original manufacturer or just one of many to put their name on the same TV, of course. But, I'd bet it's the same TV underneath it all, one way or another.

Just for the record, I would avoid using cyanoacrylate adhesives (-super glue-) in this sort of application. Regular brown Gorilla Glue (polyurethane) would be a better choice. The cyanoacrylates will outgass and condense a whitish deposit onto any fingerprints in the vicinity, which can be quite hard to remove without causing damage.

Just a suggestion, get a bottle of everclear, and some 3a molecular sieve from Amazon. Bake the sieve to regenerate it, let it cool while covered to keep it dry and add it to the everclear to get dry ethanol. Dry ethanol is great to clean with and you don't have to worry nearly as much about damaging electronics.

Hey I love your videos, especially stuff like this! Have you considered doing a computer restoration video? I could imagine it done like the old pbs woodwrights show. you tend to fast forward all the hard work you put into restoration, when it should be one of your highlights! thanks for the awesome videos.

I used to keep an old Sears BW set as my primary TV back in the day. It was cool, though, because it still had the dials and tuner, but had a switch on back that would select -monitor mode- and use the composite inputs. I used that thing up until high school! I might have to go looking for one.

Hey Clint, You Should take apart a Broken CRT, and try to put a pc in it and a display in it and make your own AllinOne Unique Pc, i think it would be different, and unique, you are usually handy and i think you could pull off something very cool, i actually have plans myself for doing this.

How do you know about these things before you go shopping? Or: Do you just feel drawn to these things when you see them, and then you look them up on your phone while in the field?

Loved just watching this be cleaned. Therapeutic in a way. Like cleaning ASMR. The CC was funny as hell as well. I love it. Please show us what the fallout games look like on this, it just screams to be used for that franchise.
