We\'ve Gotta Talk About Fallout 76. Zoltan: You could have made lots of interesting quests and stories with just robots, creatures and other creative approaches. Lack of humans does not prevent an interesting, quest-ridden role playing game. It's simply that Bethesda never was a storyteller, they were always a sandbox, setting creator. And somewhere after Skyrim (Or perhaps, in the midst of it, they became uncaring about both their strong and weak suits. Fallout 4 was a glorified map for Construction Set for modders to fill it with life.
And Fallout 76 is just an honest cashgrab.
Bu the fault of it is not on Bethesda, but on the consumers. If people make Fallout 4 the best-selling game, why should they feel like doing something different? And since Fallout 76 seem to be -redeeming- itself with the newest Wastelanders addition, by the vote of the same mass that made Fallout 4 the bestseller, Bethesda not going to reconsider its approach anytime sooner.
You reap what you sow, people. You reap what you sow.

now in 2022, Fallout 76 has received a bunch of updates and some major additions, but the overall problems with the game hasn't changed - it's still largely a single player game with some multiplayer aspects. And no one cares by now. It retains a tiny loyal player base, but the vast majority have given up on it. The Microsoft buyout hasn't changed anything, because for the most part Bethesda is allowed to continue as they've always done, so there's yet to be any official announcement about what their long term plans for the games are (except for the occasional update about what they plan to add in the immediate future, but I for one totally expect them to abandon it. We're coming up on 4 years since release and it is quite normal for corporations to expect a certain level of profit within 5 years, and if they don't reach that they just dump the project. It's not cheap to keep servers running, esp for a game that's unpopular and can't maintain a large playerbase

OPEN WORLD MULTIPLAYER SURVIVAL is rapidly becoming the death of PC gaming as we know it. at least 75% of new titles on Steam for instance are all the same thing. I'm sick of base building and grinding resources and coordinating playtimes with my friends. hey video game developers? how about YOU build the game and populate it for a change. stop forcing the players to create the gaming experience for themselves. this is lazy. these games are shallow and lack any replay value. why do you think people were so universally in love with Red Dead Redemption 2? because it reminded them of the power of a strong singleplayer narrative; great storytelling, memorable characters, and intense attention to detail. all of the things which are ALWAYS lacking from online multiplayer games. not to mention the BLOOD SUCKING microtransactions and grossly overpriced DLC and ingame purchases for COSMETIC features. is nobody else sick of this shit?

Personally I take issue with how Bethesda has handled the Fallout series. I was an unbelievably huge fan of Fallout 1+2 and I spent years looking into Van Buren (codename for original Fallout 3 before BlackIsle went bankrupt. I know what an incredible over-the-top job Bethesda has done with the Elder Scrolls series, so I was excited for them doing Fallout (or just anyone doing Fallout. Fallout 3 was such a huge disappointment, it was an OK game but it didn't capture the beauty of the originals and didn't have 1/4 of the love that Bethesda puts into their Elder Scrolls games. Maybe New Vegas and 4 were good, but my goodwill was squandered. I wasn't willing to invest time and money into a game company that didn't seem to care much about this series, and Fallout 76 is further evidence of that.

I want to return to the old days of game design before the rise of high-speed internet, where developers HAD to make sure their game was complete and relatively bug-free before release, because there was almost no way to update it. Designers these days have gotten lazy and relied on hot fixes and patches FAR too much to repair their initial, buggy shit release. No Man's Sky suffers the same laziness, including the latest major release, Beyond. They released essentially a beta version into the community with no indication it was such, and then had to rely on nearly daily massive patches to fix what they couldn't be bothered to playtest initially. It's lazy and disappointing to see game studios doing this.

I would've played the balls out of '76 if they would have kept it a single player game. the server situation is what disgusted most of the people who bought it. the servers aren't maintained, and they have the absolute crappiest net code i think i've seen in a -multiplayer- title. bethesda really should just stick to doing the single player open world RPG games that everyone loves. and yes even those of you that say skyrim and FO4 suck, we all know you have over 2000 hours on at least one character. So you still love the games. i mean hell i have skyrim on ps3 and ps4 and xbox, it's one of the best rpg's i've personally ever played(besides new vegas of course)

I really hope that BGS's Wastelanders Update pulls out a No Man's Sky and makes the game relevant, With enough features to consider it a Finished game and stable. I've only played some hours of the free week in December and, while it wasn't the worst experience ever (haven't encountered any game breaking glitches, it did felt like a rushed game that the devs are desperately trying to finish post launch, because some dumbass at Bethesda Zenimax thought -well, just release it in this state, what could possibly go wrong? -

I'm quite curious what you think of Fallout 76 since the update, where it is no longer a dead world. I started a game before the update, and through some mistakes on my part I lost my progress and had to start again, and OH MY GOD! It is an entirely different game now, and has a much clearer storyline so far. The amount of detail in the new content is incredible, and honestly I'd love to hear your thoughts on this updated version of Fallout 76. For me and my family, it's been truly game-changing.

2 years later, this game is somehow only getting worse with every month that passes. Bethesda had a chance to No Man's Sky this game and work to get something good out of it, but it's only getting worse and worse. This game should've been free to play from day one. Then we could say -At least it's free-. I've only now realized that I'm not a Fallout fan, I'm just a Fallout: New Vegas fan.

Wow, and now if you did this video, you could mention the BS $100. 00 pay wall to a storage box that is supposed to be unlimited. except is was (or still is) deleting people's stuff, and it is supposed to give you access to private games. that are not private. And I had forgotten that if you build a camp. as soon as you log out it is gone? Yeah, screw this piece of crap game.
