Flying is rather dangerous in both Simcity and Transport Tycoon.
In the first, I eventually built fire departments all around my airport, then the game added insult to injury by crashing an airliner right into a fire department.
In Transport Tycoon, I had a minimum of two crashes a year on any airfield, having it shut down for months after.
Also in Transport Tycoon, you can demolish rivals' roads by building railroads over them then bulldozing your railroad tracks together with their road.

Kids today do NOT know how hard a NORMAL game was back then. It was when games first of all was good, and it was when games had hard puzzles that could take you several of hours to think through or even days. It was when games were great and now that games are beautiful, they lack in gameplay. What if they would follow instead of part ways? It would be insanely nice games, but no, unfortunately today we have only beautiful but mediocre gameplay games. Take me back, please!

I played this as a kid too, but it was very challenging because I couldn't read English. I eventually clicked around enough to figure out how to plop down structures and how to take loans, although I had no idea what I was doing so when I couldn't take any more loans I'd just watch it all collapse. I think I eventually got my parents to help me by translating, but I think I was still a bit too young to get into it.

An easy and fun way to -cheat- Sim City is to not build roads and only build metro lines. You completely eliminate traffic and pollution as problems, so you never have to worry about them again. Because the air is so clean and the commutes are so easy, it basically pins your citizens happiness at max all the time, letting you raise taxes to absurd levels. As a bonus, crimes and fires seem to go down a lot, as well.

Did you know there's also an option in the game to print out a poster of your city? either single or 8 page-size. I was very young back then, and english isn't my first language, so i wondered if that 8-page thing even worked.
My old dot-matrix printer worked quite a while that evening.
I still have that very same 8-page poster on my wall to this day.

Still have the Amiga version of this. Was interesting that it was a bootable floppy, but unlike other Amiga games which would directly load the game exe and completely skip the OS, it booted into the Amiga OS(which is held in ROM, but requires a boot floppy with correct commands to get to) and you had to open the game yourself from the OS.

TL; DR: SimCity 1 to 3000: awesome
4: still awesome but lacking any improvements in the expected areas - road building.
SC 2013: provided half-baked improvements that should have been in SC 4 in the first place, for the price of killing the whole franchise, since everything else in it as well as the overall whole, was shit.

I remember my version of Sim City didn't have the windows 3. 1 layout. It was straight dos without mouse support. I had a good ole Hyundai 386 lol There was two floppys (5. 25-. The first had the game on it, and the second was scenarios. Crazy at the time. I also remember the password security feature was a pain in the ass too!
