It's time for Christmas LGR! Festivities begin this year with the 1996 holiday version of Interpose: a horizontally scrolling shoot-em-up by Twilight Zone Software and Webfoot Technologies. This X-mas Edition is only a teaser for the full game, but it's still surprisingly good stuff for a free holiday-themed MS-DOS title Antwahn: Dude last Xmas I was living in a 10ft room in a rooming house and working at Target. I remember hating that room so much I would show up early to Target and watch LGR videos for like an hour before every shift. Thank you for helping me out in a dark time. Your content is phenomenal. Keep up the good work, Clint! Happy Holidays!

This is incredibly bizarre. This is an extremely technically impressive game for the time. Side-scrolling shooters were still rather popular in 1995, the pre-rendered techniques they were using were extremely cutting-edge on the SNES (Donkey Kong Country, Killer Instinct) and it looks like a pretty decent implementation of it. Unlike a lot of games from the 32-bit era which look like they were in a rough transitional phase between awkwardly high resolution pixel art and bad 3-d modeling rasterization, this actually looks pretty good. Some of the tile work is too busy, imo, but it's really impressive work for '95 by a totally indie team. It's kind of a crazy example of a company that should have made a decent chunk of change, but they probably chose the wrong distributor so they game was never advertised, so they never made it. You can tell a crazy amount of work went into this game though.

I-ve been watching for years and never understood how you could work in aol chat rooms, AIM, yahoo and msn messenger, with the things that are still used in messaging these days. Seems like a huge task and probably difficult to cover seeing as most of the programs were downloaded. But it-d be cool to see how dolls and avatars were used in programs like palace chat and all the proto second life platforms worked and their popularity. One being aol profiles and geo cities

This game is a bit like Raptor: Call of the shadows but horizontal scrolling instead of vertical. Raptor was one of my favourite Dos games of the 90s and i still play it- from time to time when im in the right mood so i will download the full version of Interpose and see how i like it.
-There is an updated version of Raptor that runs on modern windows called Dot Emu 2015 edition with improved graphics, enermy explosions and sound.

Wow there are still shareware games being found, wish I had seen this one too. One problem I had with shmups in general was they were usually too fast and challenging, so in the end I would never get passed beyond level 2 on most of these games. All the hard work of putting a game together in vain because the players can never reach later levels, how about that. Then Stargunner happened and woooow

This was a really awesome game, I've played a lot as a kid. I found the shareware version on the CD attachment of a PC gaming magazine. I wonder what happened to Twilight Zone Software. It seems they've made another shoot 'em up, but we never heard of them ever since, and the developers don't seem to be in the gaming industry anymore.

Just thought I'd put a little addendum in here about Webfoot. It does appear they're now out of business, despite their web site still being up. The phone number listed on their corporate About page has been disconnected. Quite a long run they had but it looks like they closed up shop after 25 years.

Revisiting the Xmas clone videos, and now I'm curious if that's a plumb bob in the metal box. And in one of the polaroids, it looks like the clone is dangling a plumb bob beside his face. Sims reference? And if so, which is the Sim and which is the player? The mythology deepens.

Didn't know there was a x-mas version of Interpose.
I actually have a legal copy of the full gam on CD. It was one of my favorite games back in the day. Partly because it wasn't quite as insanely difficult as many other shmups in the 90s.

Man, I don't know what exactly it is but Clint you have a unique talent in terms of how you shoot, edit, and generally produce these videos. Draws me in and keeps me interested almost regardless of topic. Good stuff, keep it up.
