It is a Mad Max movie without Mad Max as the main character. Nobody asked for this movie. Nobody cares about this character. We want Mad Max, not a secondary character. Put Mad Max as the main character and it shall do very well.
5: 02 What are you talking about Mad Max is a character many follow. Yes, he isnt movies you spoke of, but his movies are legendary. He is a much loved and followed character around the world. Just admit it, that Furiosa was never a well liked character and it was an attempt to do a Disney Star Wars on us. It was never about issues with people wishing to go see movies, it had to do with a character many of us disliked being forced upon us to accept.
And before they start shouting that people dont like women in roles (I am a woman, remember Helen Buday was a very iconic actress in Beyond Thunder Dome. As was Tina Turner.

As one who saw this in IMAX, I enjoyed the movie. I mean yeah if you're going in expecting a bigger and badder Fury Road then it's a trash movie, but I knew it'd be different from the 1st trailer. For one it's a woman's story, so a decreased focus on high octane action in favor of emotional resonance is to be expected. Not only that, but the plots are reflective of the characters. Fury road was about a mad man trying to survive in a mad world, and excessive violence is necessary to convey that feeling. Furiosa was about a woman trying to find her way back home internally and externally, and excessive violence isn't how you convey that feeling, drama is. It does have some pretty wild moments though, especially the ending. I won't spoil it, but let’s just say I wouldn't eat any fruit if I lived in that citadel!

I think people didnt care to see a prequel story for Furiosa but damn it was still a good time in the theaters. It still lived up to Fury Road in terms of epic action set pieces. Miller cinematography is on full display and the sound design with the roaring engines and gun fire is awesome to hear and feel in theaters. I hope that we still get the Fury Road sequel as there are still stories to to be told with Max. My only real negative feelings towards the film was the story but only because I knew it was a prequel to Fury Road and basically ends where Fury Road begins so the stakes werent as high.

I'll mainly be watching to mimic the awesome old school aussie accent. I already like Dementus as a villain, but doing a prequel to the most recent movie in a mixed style of the old and new and knowing that we had already seen the better version in the prior sequel is just not what people really wanted. I just hope he didn't waste his shot when he could've come up with something new to give us. Still super excited to see this though with the other crap we've gotten the last few years it will still be a good watch. Just less excited to go to theatres now for some reason.

Multiple reasons:
1. Audiences are tired of the forced girl boss crap! I don’t care how badass a woman is, she’s not taking on a fighting dozens of men that out weigh
And out muscle her!
2. The movie is a prequel based around a character nobody really cares about.
3 the fact that it’s a prequel tells us no matter what happens her life is never in jeopardy! We know this because she’s alive in the next movie!
4. You made a Mad Max movie without Mad Max in it!

It was Titled Mad Max and had nothing really to do with Mad Max. Everyone expecting a Mad Max type star and not a spin off. Not all side characters need a side movie. Maybe if they had more action and a Mad Max storyline it might done better. He was always fighting evil gangs, trying to save a group of people seeking a more safer life for them and their kids. With a lot of action tossed in and great special effects. With how did they walk away from the stunt not hurt comments.

I think the problem with the box office now is that every week there is 3-4 new movies, now movies are 20 a ticket, unless you have a theater subscription like AMC A-List. One other thing is that unless a movie hits it big, it will probably be on streaming in 2 months and people will just wait until it hits the small screen. I seen Furiosa, it was a really good movie, would go see it again, just no time, gotta catch the next one or be left behind.

Hollywood decided to preach DEI. It doesn't sit right with fanbase. Who are the fans Mostly adult and old men. Mad Max released in 1979, 1981, 1985. VHS, CDs and DVDs expanded the fanbase through the 90s and early 2000s. OG Mad Max created the fanbase that drove to see Fury Road in 2015. Also quite likely these were the fans that claimed that there wasn't enough Max in Fury Road. I don't see Furiosa resonating with that audience as a standalone.

Let’s face it, no one gave a shit to see a furiosa prequel. Especially without Charlize Theron. It’s like planet of the apes and Godzilla, unless it’s some epic like Godzilla fighting Kong or really raved about as a must see, these movies fly under the radar. No one is dying for the sequel to these guys, and def not a prequel to some side character.

As a fan of Fury Road, Furiosa was a disappointment for me. Multiple times throughout this movie, I was bored. It wasn't just slow, it dragged. The telling of the story felt aimless, despite being a prequel so the final destination was already known. Ultimately this new movie felt like an imitation of Fury Road, and failed to justify its existence.

Yes, movie is slow. More talking, less action. She loses arm towards very end, than she convert herself into the charecter we saw on Fury Road. It's kinda rushed charecter arc. I don't know why she waited all these years since she get hands on warmachine earlier. She could've reached the green place earlier in this Saga before fury road seems.

It’s more than likely due to streaming services. they have to stop using the same metrics. they don’t apply anymore. it used to be once movie came out you had about 6 months til it came out to dvd or vhs. now it’s generally weeks or a month or two til it’s available on a stream service. Also the pricing of going to the movies is out of hand
reply

For anyone wondering all this video only tells you why the movie didn’t SELL and explains this point TEN different ways. Not one iota of whether the movie was actually decent or not.
Sure that’s right there in the title but at the same time the title would perhaps lead you to believe that the movie isn’t worth watching at all

I think expectations were too high. I heard Fury Road is great hit. Very good movie. I don't think Anya will get more opportunities like this. 2020-21 was bad for entire world. And everything. People here love to go to the movies. They watch older hits and blockbusters too. I think people are tired of these movies. Based on video
reply

It bombed because it's a Mad Max movie without. wait for it. without Mad Max -- and the at-a-glance perception is of an uncharismatic, uninteresting female lead shoehorned in because of the usual agenda.
The litany of excuses and deflections in this video is laughable. Also, they've got the word-filter cranked up to 11.

It cost's too damned much to go to the Theater. You can wait for the movie to release on digital and stream it or even buy the bluray version for less than the cost of one person seeing it in the theater. It has to be REALLY special to make me spend $50 to see a movie in a theater I can see for free in a couple months.

We're getting tired of seeing women play the hero and men being the comedy relief. Two recent films I watched were Godzilla x Kong and Planet of the Apes. Both films had strong female characters while the men played either the comedic role, the weak feeble role, or the villain. It's getting old.

I went to see fury road when it came out and never watched it again. I was not impressed it just got my money 10 years ago. It’s just the same thing Hollywood is putting out try to do the bait and switch with name title. I would like to see Mad Max, not a side character.
reply

Guess you Looper people are clueless to the fact that a good percentage of us are saving our money for food and gas. Everything in this capitalist society is high. I'm not going to waste my money on a pricey movie ticket. When I can wait a couple of months to see it on streaming.
reply

Despite the budget, this movie looks cheap. The effects don't look nearly as good as Fury Road's effects which is big for this kind of movie. Also, no Mad Max What's the point Theron made Furiosa work in Fury Road, but Max was still there. I want more Max and his muscle car.
