im definitely going to see this film. And I couldn't care less what so-called movie critics say. For starters, I love Fede Alvarerz films. Evil Dead 2013 was excellent. As was both Don't Breathe films. and I also really enjoyed his Texas Chainsaw Massacre. And I've been waiting for this film as soon as I found out that Fede Alvarez was directing it. And why would anyone listen to a movie critic Go see the film and draw your own conclusions. Just because they don't like it, doesn't mean you won't. I will be there on Saturday and I'm really looking forward to it.

Sorry you are using themarysue as a legitimate source of criticism Throw a female lead into any old shite and they are creaming themselves over it. Nice to see the new movie pays homage to the existing movies rather than changing the mythos like so many modern failures have done - looking at you Marvel, Prime and Doctor Who. The only score that counts is the box office results, expecting good results there. Good to see fans are being acknowledge rather than this mythical modern audience.

FFS. We all know the premise, the biology, the life cycle of the alien. That has been done. It gets harder to spin it differently and arguably those attempts have been less than great - looking at you Resurrection and Covenant. I get that this is same stuff, new crew, slightly different setting. It can still be good on its own. Why do people always want significant changes Anyhow, I'm looking forward to it irrespective. Will be good if it is competent if not wholly novel.

Romulus review- attempting no spoilers. Big fan here. Just seen this in an advanced screening in Australia tonight. Fantastic movie, great action sequences, relatable cast with great chemistry. Unexpected emotional rollercoaster throughout. Creative ending, which I'm sure will get everyone talking. Going back to see it tomorrow and at the weekend. Desperately trying to find leaks online so I can rewatch immediately haha!

Movie/TV Series and all these shows crtitics are never to take into consideration. It's all about what a person feels and the meaning for each person. If for the most of the audience it's a good, meaninful experience, the movie will be considerate good. Otherwise, no. So, until we watch, we don't know. And even after this doesn't matter either so.

Imagine an Alien film that has a single male lead, doing MacGyver type shit to stay alive against a single alien threat. That is original. the female lead is unfortunately played out in this franchise. Man versus beast would be exceptional in my humble opinion. Think Arnold in Predator's third act only on a spaceship with a xenomorph.

This is the problem when fans shun the franchise branching out and trying to be different, in favour of the 'same old same old'.
Anyhow, regardless, who cares about reviews, be it from fans or critics -they're just opinions based on individual bias of the person watching.
Go see it for yourself to make up your own minds.

I get the feeling it'll be more of a thrill ride than the last 2 Ridley Scott films (which were philosophical, but filled with dumb characters you were glad to see killed, more intelligent than Aliens vs Predator, but still not able to recapture the first 3 films (yes, I'm tossing in Alien 3 as among the best.

One thing the director mentioned is that he was walking a tightrope. Trying to pay homage to the original while still doing his own thing. It makes sense that there are some people that think he paid too much homage. And that there are some people that wish he hadn't done his own thing at all.

I just watched this in theaters. its quite good in my opinion. the tension and jump scares were quite good. hoping for a sequel
Spoilers
The baby of the girl became a xeno/engineer hybrid. I didnt expect that at all and it was so tall too. does some one know what its called

All of the paid early reviews have told me already what a mess this film is going to be. Note to Hollywood - nobody with a brain believes 100s of 5 star reviews with nothing negative to say. You gotta throw in a few 3 and 4 stars to make this look believable!
reply

The problem with Pro Critics, they think they have to be profound. Its movie critiquing, its not brain surgery.
Ever since i found myself watching Holy Motors because of some profound reviews i saw. i never take movie watching too serious.

reply

Critics. Worthless, biased and most of them don't even understand the subject matter in the first place or are not even fans. Ignore them. Make up your own minds. Fan reaction has been highly positive which is the real gauge of a movie's credibility.
reply

Pay no attention to critics. Did you see what Sight and Sound elected as the best film ever a few years back Some awful AWFUL film. So pay no attention to critics and just see Alien Romulus because it was be a blast and great popcorn fare.
reply

Just watched it in V-Max. Erm. I probably shouldn't say anything until after the weekend, when a lot more people have seen it. I'll just say this - it starts off extremely well and promising. and it just gets worse and worse and worse
reply

Critics say--
Yeah, no one gives a shxt what critics think. They're either paid shills or have no idea what they're talking about. They're obsolete and untrustworthy.
It's what the audience, the people, say/think.

reply

Without watching it I’m going to flip a coin and decide if I love it or hate it. Or I could just go watch it. Yeah I think I’ll do that. Or I could be bitter and negative. Hmmmm tough choice.
reply

Why wouldn’t he play it a little bit safe on the first one Seems reasonable to me. Give the fans some call backs and set some new stuff up. It might be formulaic, but it’s what the people want.
reply

Like many i absolutely love the original movies. I didn't mind the later ones. This installment iam really looking forward to. Never mind the critics its what the fans old and new think
reply

Critics will never be go to for if a movie is good or not. Theyre called critics for a reason. Critics dont enjoy movies. They enjoy oscar bait plots that give them essays to write
