I think the issue with Red One is that people know its going to be on streaming services before christmas, Why pay the extra cash when you can just wait for it
me and my sister want to see it but we said lets wait til its on streaming
Also Superhero fatigue isnt a thing, its so annoying when people say it, Deadpool and Wolverine did well because it gave its audience exactly what people wanted, a well written story about a character we love! Madame Web didnt do well because its a spider man universe character without spider man, also Madame Web isnt a very popular character and the story sucked. The Marvels didnt do well because it was about a character that only did well in her first movie because it was sandwiched between two big avengers movies, and The Marvels didnt really feel like it had anything to do with the MCUs current story of Kang, which at the time was the next big bad.
Second Joker movie didnt do well because they changed Harley Quinn first off, and it was a musical, plus the directors have said they didnt want to do the movie so they made it bad so they wouldnt get asked for a 3rd. Which sucks because I liked the first Joker, but lets face it, at the minute DC movies do bad because no one knows whats going on with the DCEU as a whole. I enjoyed Black Adam, but the whole movie your wondering ok so where does this tie in with The Flash, and Superman will they make a cameo
well thats my rant over haha.

I saw the movie on Saturday and it was good but not the best xmas action movie I have seen in years. Honestly, I only went to see the rock get slapped by Krampus and I enjoyed that part. I enjoyed that it was a semi-original movie idea that wasn't fully based on a prequel, sequel, or animated movie.
However, the movie felt way too long and not super fun. There were parts of the movie that made me laugh but that was near the end of the movie The Rock acting was way to serious for such a silly premise, Chris Evans's accent changed about 3-4x within the movie and the color scheme of the movie was too dark, and grim even with Nick getting Nick-Napped lol
Lastly, where was the wonder and glee xmas movies are supposed to have I don't celebrate the holiday but I do enjoy a good xmas action movie! Also, I wanted to see more Garcia! There should have been more scenes with the whole E. L. F. crew and not just the rock.

I want to point something else out that nobody is talking about. Look at Bruce Willis and Nicolas Cage as opposed to The Rock. Those guys took any and every role available. Some of the worst scripts you have ever seen. Some films better than others especially as they aged in the industry. What I think endeared them is that they truly love what they do. They look at acting and being in films like it is a privilege. The Rock to me takes it for granted. I think that story with Ryan Reynolds on the set of Red Notice severely damaged The Rock's reputation in Hollywood. I think it confirmed suspicions many had about the fallout with Vin Diesel. I think people see The Rock as selfish that takes the entertainment industry for granted and the people are turning on him fierce. Its a perception that he exudes that the people are turning against

The big budget blockbusters need to go altogether for a while. There is such a ridiculous overreliance on CGI for years now. Especially after the pandemic people are just not going to movies like they used to. We need to get to more practical effects and focus on acting and actual script writing. There is such a laziness now when it comes to that. I do think that Sonic the Hedgehog 3 will be a smash success next month but after that I judt dont see how you justify risking 200 plus million on any film moving forward if you are these studio's

The rock once fired his agent after he told him he needed to slow down on his choice of jobs and roles, his next 7 films were flops, this is what happens when an egotistical narcasicst isnt told by those around him his ideas suck, imax for a family xmas film is absoloutley ridiculous and shows his disconnect from the reality of the cost of taking your family to watch a film in imax at xmas the tickets aswell as snacks and drinks for a family of 4 is over 200 dollars none of your movies are worth a 200 dollar price point

He does not care anymore. after throwing a fit about trying to take over The Fast and Furious and also DC Universe and failed. saying these movies can not make it without him. he has lost his credibility with me. he needs to just do his job and entertain. so far, he has not been doing it for a few years. he has just been acting like One Big Kevin. I am in no big hurry to spend my hard earned money to see any of his movies at the theaters. I can wait to see them when they come to the streaming services I already pay for.

Worldwide its at 88 million, might have been a bit early for the release but after Thanksgiving it can possibly skyrocket since it's a family holiday movie. If a holiday movie came out on Christmas it wouldn't make sense because after Christmas people wouldn't want to go see a Christmas movie. People forget that theatrical movies usually run around a month. So releasing around or after Thanksgiving is prime release for a holiday movie.

The last movie that re-imagined Santa as a tough man was Rise of the Guardians. Which actually did fairly well critically and is now regarded by many today as a holiday classic, but still ended up being an 87-million dollar loss for DreamWorks.
And these nitwits thought they could find success by doing the exact same thing, only with twice as big of a budget, half the humor and one tenth the charm
Gee, who could have seen this coming

So many sketchy things have been creeping out about Dwayne Johnson that it's been hard to see him in this part. I just couldn't feel it. I liked Chris Evans, and I really liked J K Simmons as Santa Clause. But then there was quite a lot of violence and cursing for a holiday movie. Death merchants and thugs. Maybe not so great. At the end of the day, I enjoyed the movie, but I have to admit I really have Dwayne Johnson fatigue.

Why is The Rock allowed to be this toxic on movie sets and to producers He asked for $30 million dollars for a movie that his star power can't generate at the box office. He did the same thing with Shazam. I'm a school teacher. I can see he isn't bankable. Why can't executives Hobbs and Shaw not getting a sequel. Every single thing that he wants to become the face of a new franchise for FLOPS MISERABLY.

Well they basically filmed the crappy background joke christmas TV show from Scrouged. That was fine as a background to the real story but not enough to make a movie. It would have been funnier if they filmed as a 'making of' comedy trying to make the crappy corporate Christmas movie by the numbers, run by committees, focus groups and company politics and greed, showing the absurdity of it all

I took my boys to it they wanted to see it because of Santa and they both loved it, it was a decent action movie something new so it honestly isn't as bad as a lot of ppl are saying. A lot of haters out there that haven't even seen it just hating on it. Go watch it before you judge it. It isn't anything crazy good but it's a good action movie for what it is

Rock just ain't a draw any more. He kept pumping out movie after movie for 5 years and now people are sick of watching him play himself in the same bland, over-CGIed, soul-less movies but with different actors.
Like in wrestling, he needs to go away for a while before people can start missing him. Becoming more humble and authentic will also help.

Thank you.
Opening BO for movies released around Xmas can be eratic. It's hard to predict the fooliwing days' BO.
Unlike Thanksgiving, Xmas and NY land on different days of the week each year. Thee Xmas holidays span up to 12 days versus Thanksgining with just four.
Both Avatars starting out slowly and were released around Xmas.

Many people still go to theaters today, but I think the biggest issue was that it was garbage. It was easy to see it wasn't worth the money just from the trailer. Also, The Rock's movies are all the same action garbage nowadays so seeing him attached to it already tells myself and many others that it will be generic and bland.

When it was first announced it was red 1 with no description really. Everyone thought it was going to be a war movie based off the group in the army called the big red 1. A division of some of the toughest soldiers. Then they were like oh it's a Christmas movie. No one cared or cares about this movie now.
reply

It bombed cause of timing(not coming out in December, the trailer looked overly campy, and they didn’t have a lot of faith in it(didn’t promote it well.
Clearly this was a bomb that was made to be a fun famliy run and came out a little too early cause it didn’t want to take on sonic 3.

Why don't reviewers address the snowman in the living room Dwayne Johnson can't act. He is also in so many films that he is living the Jude Law experience, being in too many movies that don't matter, but adding that Johnson is boring when he isn't moving and insufferable when he is talking.
reply

This analysis on why this movie flopped is pretty good. Why this movie wasn't put out closer to Xmas Yea Friday with the Tyson fight helped the movie flop. I think the Rock is bankable but he's doing the wrong projects, he's too predictable he looked up on too overbearing, too powerful
reply

Superhero aspect has not factor here. As a movie genres has sweet and sour spots like. And the fable Superhero trend is just a corporate term to allow themselves to both ripoff and pretend to that they can cheaply develop that particular movie style. It is really just shallow ploy.
