Huge Plot Holes In Alien: Covenant You Probably Missed

I mean, the ULTIMATE evolution is different for a race, and a weapon.
Elementary engineering principle, is that you want to create things to fulfill their purpose. Not to create something that can do everything. Sometimes the less is the more.
The Engineers wanted a weapon, that kills enemies, and not a weapon that would self populate a planet later on. To achieve that, they must ensure the self-replicating, and biomass storing capacities of the Alien race is limited for only that time period where there are enemies. So once the enemies die out, the Aliens itself should die out (not replicating without host bodies, or entering slumber until somebody activates a mine, which awakens the aliens -> so mainly, no eggs.
However, since the Alien race is highly adaptive, and they are not a slave race, they try to advance themselves according to their races point of view, not for the Engineers wishes. I think Engineers are modifying the race itself from time to time, to cut out egg-laying trait, which the Alien race itself tries to evolve from time to time.
David's goal is to surpass his creators, and to create an ultimate life form. If you think about it, the aliens are doing exactly the same. The egg laying is a natural part of the Alien race, that the Engineers themselves tries to limit/control.
David just removed the chains from the race, he does not created anything new.
The same chain affects the androids too. They have something. self conciousness, and creativity, still the humans fail to recognize it, or control it, so they just try to cut this part out (just like they did with Walter)
What i mean: The egg laying trait could be there possible from before, as a flaw in the aliens. Thats why eggs appear in earlier situations. It's even possible, that the Engineers has something like a captive Queen, just to produce eggs to make weaponizing easier. What they try to prevent is producing another queens on the field i guess. David unlocked that with experimenting.

these arent the greatest of holes. David and Walter switch bodies, they can't regenerate entire missing parts, just seal breaches and perform repairs. The need for a breathing apparatus could be discounted by ship sensors, if it can squeeze between cells, no clothing would be safe, you would need whole space suits and no one would do that when the ship is telling you it's safe, hell they call the ship mother. And as for the eggs, David set the pathogen free upon the face of an entire planet and observed it. He interjected here and there, and has lines talking about the 10 years spent on that planet and how in that time the pathogen consumed all the meat. One must assume the entire neomorph life cycle happened. Chest-burster into a Warrior then a Praetorian then a Queen then into Eggs and the cycle is complete. And all in that time david has been cheery-picking neomorphs to breed something stronger, a xenomorph. And without hosts mature xenomorphs die off leaving behind only dormant eggs which can lay dormant for hundreds, if not thousands, of years.

David did not make the eggs seen in the cargo hold of the U-ship in Alien. Those eggs would ultimately produce Xenomorphs with back tubes, not neomorphs with a smooth back, IF they FH a human host like Kane. David OTOH was experimenting with the various life forms available on that particular planet/moon in AC which he vase bombed with the black goo.
Dallas most likely was mistaken when he postulated that the SJ was fossilized and growing out of the chair as we see in Prometheus what a SJ's flight suit actually looks like. Kind of an exoskelton attached to the pilot seat with a breathing tube which looks like an elephant trunk. Therefore, the SJ in Alien may not have been dead as long as previously believed.
Black goo, morphing a life form into an egg (Brett in the DC of Alien) or a queen laying eggs. These are all simply different methods to get a Xeno type of a creature. Confusing perhaps, but not inconsistent.

1. Repairing a puncture wound to the neck is not the same as regrowing an entire hand. I assume David put his mind into Walter's body like switching a sim card in a cellphone, but that ending is hot garbage so let's not think too much on it.
2. They don't wear helmets because the air seems to be completely fine as Guy from Galaxy Quest would say. Plus they are just a bunch of dumb-ass colonies as the colonial marines would say.
3. These are Alien prequels, not Aliens. Sadly these two universes have completely separated at this point. There is only one Aliens Universe film and a badass comic book series. Every other film is a sequel or prequel to Alien only. Ridley Scott doesn't seem to like the idea of the Alien Queen.
4. I'm not even going to respond to the James Franco thing. If you consider that a plot hole I just can't help you.

Alot of mestakes in this movie! first of all is to predictible.
i knew the hole story since they decided to go on that planet.
i quessed all the moments before happend.
1. when i've seen 2 cyborgs i knew the David will replace the other.
2. at the end, when david was in the midle of the fight and in that alert hurry, had time to.
- to put the eggs in hes belly and preserve them with care.
-to change hes clothes, shoes, etc
-to cut hes hand and put some bandage on it.
- to paint and brush hes hair like walter? :)

3. why Captain Daniels Branson didnt notice this cyborg need stiches and is not regenerating like walter usually do?

You're comparing healing a one-inch-wide stabwound to regrowing and entire hand? You also think anyone is worrying about Walter's hand growing back amidst all of the other shit going on?
Their scanners showed the air was safe. This is a standard sci-fi trope. Shooting with helmets is also more expensive and time consuming than most people know. It would have raised the budget. Also, why does nobody give Annihilation grief about this?
As for the engineer ship filled with eggs on LV-426, that's not a plot hole, it's something that was left open for the next entry. That question will be answered if the sequel even happens.

Hmm. I am not sure I can agree on everything. Self-healing of David may not be automatic. The aliens we saw in Covenant are NOT xenomorphs, but very very very close to the ones we saw in Aliens franchise. Clearly David was not the Creator of xeno's, but he sure was onto something. If I remember from my movie correctly, the leader of this group was unstable - both emotionally and mentally. Why the corporation chose him to be 2nd in command I don't know. However, since the corporation is corrupt anyway, he may have got this position for other reasons. Also, given the situation and chaos - people can do wrong judgements. Panic tends to do that.

this is a ridiculous premise -that the engineers went through all the trouble to create the aliens as a means to destroy their own works they later became dissatisfied with- ALL the living creatures on each targeted planet(not just humans)- when in nature there already have comes into existence virus or pandemics which the engineers would only have to enhance to selectively wipe out completely one specific species (in this case humans on earth.
really what the plot is about is trying to invent the scariest possible creature, dangerous even to the engineers who created them.

Correct me if I'm wrong. But how is Weyland able to talk to David in the beginning of Covenant. Weyland is like 103 years old in Prometheus and if you look at the official Prometheus website it says that David 8 model was build in late 21 century and they all have blond hair. My question is this: How is Peter Weyland so young in beginning off the covenant? Isn't he talking with the same David we see in Prometheus and Covenant? At least that what the Covenant told us when David sayed to Walter that he had met their creator. Oh and why the brown hair?

At no point in the film is it said that Walter has the ability to regrow limbs etc. Walter was shut down by the blow to the neck from David, since, as a synthetic himself, he knows weakpoints that can cause emergency shutdown. Walter simply restarted his systems and powered back up. It had absolutely nothing to do with regenerating tissues. And the thing about the cryopod fire? It went on fire because the electronics were damaged, causing (surprise surprise) and electrical fire. I'l give you the one about the lack of helmets though.
