I read the books before seeing any of the films, and the first I saw was You Only Live Twice, so I've probably been around Bond longer than most folks here have been alive. And the Bond from the books is Timothy Dalton. He did his research, read the books before making The Living Daylights, and nailed it. He's also the only classically trained actor in the bunch. Craig is second closest to the books, but isn't quite as refined as Dalton. Bond went to Eton; he's a toff, not a thug. But he's a ruthless and cold-blooded albeit quick-tempered toff, and not imperfect, and that's how Dalton played him. That said, Connery's first three are definitely in the top five, along with Craig's Casino Royale and Licence to Kill, with Goldeneye, On Her Majesty's Secret Service and The Spy Who Loved Me not far behind. My informed, educated opinion.

Each actor of james bond has at least 2 good films: sean connery with from russia with love and goldfinger, Sir Roger Moore with for your eye only and A view to a kill (most underatted james bond film) and Pierce Brosnan with goldeneye and the world is not enough.
Sorry but for daniel craig I did not find any good film. There is also timoty dalton with his licen to kill, a good film, a pity that the actor does not stick too much with the james bond ' spirit '

I still think Goldfinger is highly overrated; if I were going to select a Sean Connery Bond film to watch, it would literally be last on my list. The 2006 Casino Royale outstrips anything else in the Bond catalog. A friend of mine once made light of the superhuman feats Daniel Craig does as Bond; my replay: At least Daniel Craig _looks_ like someone who could do all that stuff. And the shift away from all the camp provided some much-needed relief.

A bond movie is made of 50% James himself, 30% gadgets/music/stunts/scenery, 15% bond girls+the bad guy, 5% the plot (there is one? Bond always wins)
If I want to watch a movie with an uncertain folding and ending, the last movie I'd watch is a bond movie.
Worst movies the one(s) with Lazenby (by far) then Dalton - Best: Connery (by far) Graig and some Moore (perhaps 50%)
