The Justice League That Almost Happened Solitaire001: I think the main reason that the pilot came out the way it did was they were trying to emulate the Justice League comic of the time, which was humorous. At the time, they tried to bring back the classic Justice League line up (Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, Green Lantern [Hal Jordan], Aquaman, and The Martian Manhunter. However, at the time many of those characters were not available due to them being in the process of being revamped (although the Creative Team for Batman did allow them to use him.
With the classic League not possible, they chose to add second and third-string characters to the team. The initial line up was Batman, Martian Manhunter, Green Lantern (Guy Gardner, Mister Miracle, Dr. Light (Kimiyo Hoshi, Black Canary (Dinah Laurel Lance, Blue Beetle, Dr. Fate, and Captain Marvel (Booster Gold, Fire, and Ice were added later.
They took the series in a humorous direction different from previous versions of the team, showing us what goes on when the League members are out of public view. As an example, at one point Guy Gardner decides he's had enough of Batman being the leader and decides to take him down (without his power ring. Gardner came at Batman, Batman punched him once, Gardner flies across the room and is stopped by the wall, and Gardner spends the rest of the issue unconscious. Batman continues without missing a beat.
The comic series was a big hit for DC, so much so that soon other humorous Justice League titles were published. It also led to a move away from the grim and gritty type of comics that had been done for a while.
Despite the humorous aspect of the series, this version of The League could still rise to the occasion when needed. During a fight with Despero (combine The Incredible Hulk with Professor X to give you an idea of his power level at that time, The League did their best despite being outpowered by Despero (they only won when The Martian Manhunter used his powers to create an illusion in Despero's mind of his fondest wish [which was for him to be standing on a massive piles of dead bodies of people he has killed which is everyone on the planet] and it put him in a coma.

I agree with everything on this video, except for the fact I felt Martian Manhunter's design was good. Maybe it's just me, but I prefer practical makeup over CGI face. Martian Manhunter of Supergirl hasn't crossed the uncanny valley in my eyes.
I totally agree with you with it not becoming a cult classic. Batman and Robin has some cheese, and you can enjoy it as a comedy. No way this could be enjoyed.

Justice League year one showed a Justice League can work with out Batman Superman and Wonder Woman. Line up was Flash, Green Lantern (Hal Jordan, Aquaman, Martian Manhunter, Black Canary. That would have been a good starting point for a Justice League movie and probably would have been slightly cheaper to make.

Comparing things to other, in this case much older, things is not a valid argument.
People are supposed to compare things to what they can and should be. The argument in this video is akin to the basic Republican Politician's copout argument: look how bad the other side is doing!

They definitely bit off more than they could chew. Low budget is bad enough with ONE comic book hero. They should have done an improved version of Misfits of Science with budget TV versions of the Justice League. That was at least watchable for kids.

Call me crazy but how some superhero movies have comedy in them now a days this idea isnt half bad for today but for back then it was a terrible idea. Change the plot a bit, add some action, and make a little bit more serious

Don't try to excuse Snyder's mistakes by comparing his awful work to this saying it's a master piece, mainly because you get us y to say if compared to this Snyder's work is a master piece, then the MCU is a true religion.

The new justice league was actually pretty good, but you could tell that most of the cgi money went to cyborg, and the villain was pretty one-dimensional, but it was still a really good movie

I quite liked justice league. It was definitely better than suicide squad and batman vs superman. Kind if disappointed about there not being a new green lantern ir martian man hunter.

I just thought that the Justice League of America TV pilot was unintentionally funny as hell, like Battlefield Earth.
I laughed my arse off watching Battlefield Earth; op
