Great Movies Ruined With Special Effects Paul: At last I have a few allies. That overkill C. G. I turned this movie fan off for keeps long ago. i quit feeding that wicked super rich hollyweird beast a long time ago and that's the truth. My last flick was loaded with so much evil violent crap and blood I walked out after 40 or so minutes and shall never subject myself to another so-called blockbuster at any theater ever again!
The last was Logan: a. k. a - x-men wolverine. He was a steel skeleton nightmarish killer of a man with no heart cgi armed with retractable razor sharp clawblades. This was my last mind damming experience and I feel much better now being off this mind altering drug they still call, entertainment? (:

Yea the Original The Thing was a damn master piece, so was the original 1st Alien. Just goes to show practical can be done amazing, and so can CGI (Avatar. But both can be done horribly as well. I personally prefer Practical. And thats what Horror needs to make a comeback. Horror genre is so bad rn but if more horror films would take note from The Thing and The Exorcist, well Horror would be back on top. But o well. But just compare Alien and Alien Covenant. Way to much CGI in the new one.

I will always maintain that the Mummy missed out on a huge spectacle. Instead of a bad monster vs humans fight with unconvincing cgi and no real stakes how much cooler would it have been if the Rock just walked out himself but decked out in gold Scorpion themed armor. He would have towered over the other actors and been a convincing threat as he kicked the shit out of the people trying to beat him. It wouldn't have completely fixed the movie but it would have fixed the ending.

Adding tron because of the fact that CLU looked off is like saying you hate Saving Private Ryan because you know the guy who exploded on top of that tank near the end was fake. Or like saying that you didnt like The Curious Case of Benjamin Button because you know theres no way that old man/kid was real. Like no shit hes gonna be a little off, taking 30 plus years off someone is hard. James Cameron would get criticism if he tried. Calm down looper.

I wanted to stand up for Tron Legacy, I mean yeah CLU / Young Jeff Bridges is totally disturbing to see but I always thought that it was somehow accurate that the digital avatar of a person in a digital world would look digital. Yeah that does not explain all the other (real) people that acts like digital creatures in the movie, but still I liked it for it's cheesiness

I don't think Tron Legacy should be on this list, despite the fact that clu looked off, you have to consider that the movie is from 2010 (we're talking about a disney production) and for that year i think they did a pretty good job with his face, even if you can almost instantly realise it's cgi, i don't think it ruins the movie at all

LOL man don't ruin my childhood. Most of these movies were great for its time. I think it is safe to say that most people enjoyed it and didn't even care much for the CGI because that was the best of its time. Since we are advancing in technology of course looking back now makes the movies look horrible and cheap.

I never understood the hate against the green lantern suit. How the hell does one do a costume made of will energy right? It has to be cgi. Well. We will never see green lantern again because of that outcry. A real costume is just not made out of will energy. Would be even worse.

Where is Spider Man: homecoming on this list with its ugly animated spider man suit? And you put I am legend there? For its time it had good CGI AND why isnt Black Panther Im here? Did you not see the last fight? It looked like a video game on PS2 lmao also JUSTICE LEAGUE

Great special effects and CGI would not have helped The Mummy Returns, it was an awful movie, It's predecessor had some charm at least.
Edit: Tron Legacy was not a bad movie and CGI of Clu and Tron was passable (facial animation and lip syncing was a little off, but ok.
