Netflix Sparks Debate Over Infinity War Synopsis Kevin: I really did not want to watch this video. But are people actually MAD about calling him a sociopath, or are they having a unnecessary academic debate? Academic debates about fantasy are silly, but they can be fun--you know, whether or not it's important that Han shot first. If it's anger just because the synopsis is wrong, seriously get a life and stop being so emotional. I mean the synopsis is wrong--sociopaths are prone to more violent outbursts; psychopaths are almost always the ones who are cold and calculating like him. Then again, he shows some levels of empathy that is impossible for a traditional psychopath to show. So guess what! Ultimately, he is a complex, interesting character with a fascinating motivation that can't be labeled with an Internet DSM-V. So I hope people can keep it fun and light and academic and avoid the mob passions that really ruin forums. You run a knife slowly and carefully at a precise angle to sharpen a knife. You don't bang it against a rock.

I think Thanos is a sociopath. Of course in the books he is most def. a sociopath because he admits he knows its wrong. He does it anyway because of love. He also cries and shows clear feelings of shame in a way when he tells Gamora he did it so I think he is a soc. By contrast, Carnage feels no shame, nor remorse, and does not think what he does is wrong when he slaughters people. Joker does not understand the concept either. Psychopaths. I think Netflix was technically right but just shouldve chose a word like maniac that is a less clinical term or simply villain. Just to avoid the argument.

Hey looper people! I would like to see a theory on one of two things or a cross of the two, in the movie Repo Men, as well as Repo the genetic opera, they live in a future where organs are grown by an organization and sold to people who need them. If the people don't pay for their organs on time the organs get Repo'd. I'd like to see the science behind all of that and if that's a way our future could turn out. You guys do all kinds of stuff like that why not try it out?

I blame The mind of Jake Paul. Thanks to that everyone is an arm chair psychologist and thinks they know what makes someone a sociopath. Not a single person complaining would know the difference between psychopath and sociopath had it not been for that series lol. Also, Thanos wasn't diagnosed by a psychologist in the movie. How would anyone complaining know if he's a sociopath or not?

He does think wiping out half of the population is key to saving it tho he literally said so himself. and he knows it wrong but he believes he is the the only person who has a will strong enough to actually do it for the greater good in his mind. Of course tho in the comics he only doing it to impress lady death (from what I heard) and that is more psychotic

A pshycopath is born and a sociopath is made by society, a prime example of sociopath can be gangsters, mob hitmans, dictators, rapist that where abused as a child, etc. both can have lack of empathy but in the end the difference comes with being born and made, so thanos f fits in the sociopath cathegory more than in the pshycopath categorie.

Mmmmmmm he seemed to know exactly what he was doing and the repercussions that came with his actions. He also did show quite a lot of emotion in the movie and wasnt just running around silly nilly causing destruction. Sounds pretty sociopathic.
But I also wouldnt be offended if you explained to me why Im wrong and hes a psychopath instead.

He's clearly a sociopath he may not feel guilt for his plan of wiping out half of life but he certainly does feel guilt 4 things that he did along the way together. Such as killing his step daughter and having him shed tears. You knew it was a heartbreaking decision but did it anyway. Thanos is not psychotic

I might be wrong but he knew what he was doing was wrong. When gamora asked him what it cost after the snap. He said everything. So he regretted it. That's my take from it. But who really gives a shit what the Netflix description is anyway. The movie was amazing be glad its on Netflix so soon.
reply

yes, thanos is sociopath as he regret killing his daughter to achieve greater goal and he is not at all obsessed with powers as he left his armour and doing farming like normal person. Thanos knows what he doing and why he doing. he is adressing real issue existing in our real world.
