the thing in bird box seem to have been trigger by cellphones, or smartphones, as the first one we see turning was first speaking through her smartphone before bashing her head into a reinforced window. more proof is when Malory turns her head away in the car because she was trying to reach her phone that was ringing. well this one actually save her life but still is a coincidence. just thinking about a item EVEYONE seems to be hooked on as something that can potentially kill you is almost like trying to avoid sleep so Freddy wont kill you.

1) The source still exists.
2) The main character and her children can STILL see.
3) Since no one knows how or where this phenomenon was created or came. Who is to say they/It won't figure out a way into the compound. Afterall, what's to stop them from using their crazed human allies.
