The Ending Of Lost Finally Explained Nick: You can't deny that they missed a huge opportunity with the finale. They tricked us all into believing that the alternate timeline was going to become the normal one and we thought that finally all the characters would live happily ever after since that was what they were all fighting for all these seasons to begin with. Instead they just gave us the afterlife. I think Lost would have ended much better if the alternate universe somehow merged with the real one and they found a way to revert what happened on the island. Since the show was already a science fiction one why not go the extra mile?

At first, I thought the smoke monster was the evil and the island was its prison and once Jacob pushed his brother into the flashing light and ended up dying, the smoke monster was released into the island and took the form of Jacob's brother as it consistently did with Jack's father and Locke finally. Jacob's brother did die, didn't he? He kept his mothers and his brother's body in that cave (which would later be referenced as Adam and Eve by Locke.

Thank you Up-loader! Watched the show back in early 2000' with friends when we were off from work in the UAE, but bought the box set 2 weeks ago and started to BINGE. makes all sense now. You are a star and solved a 15 year mystery for me after watching it again endlessly during Lockdown from this COVID-19 Fiasco in South Africa. Thank you once again Brother.

Lost's last season felt like JJ Abrahams coming to my living room, slowly leaning towards my ear and shouting a big F U C K Y O U right into it. I will hate this man for ever. (except for the new Start Treks i thought those were pretty cool) (I am not 100% sure he is the one i should hate him for Lost shit ending)

My roommate freshman year college got me to watch the first season. I was convinced I was watching the greatest show ever made. Then after s4 I was like ok that was a little bump in the road. Then after s5 and s6 I told my friend to never recommend a show to me ever again

After about 5 minutes of this Explaining The End of Lost I get the distinct feeling the Lost writers had absolutely no clue whatsoever of where the show was going and randomly made it up as they went along.

all I got from the series is Jacob was evil and his brother was a victim for their mother and then to his brother, all he ever wanted was to live in peace with other humans and see the world

I think that the ending is up to what you want it to be, so if you want to think they all died to the crash. They all died to the crash. If you want to believe otherwise. So be it.

I can't understand why people couldn't understand the finale. It's very much understandable. They were alive on the island and those that escaped the island died at later times
