In the 2000s and early 2010s, South Korea's film industry released a number of notable films (Oldboy, Man From Nowhere, I Saw the Devil) with well choreographed fight scenes, featuring a lone character on the path of revenge. Throughout the rest of the 2010s a number of American revenge films of a similar vein were released (Sicario, The Equalizer, Lucy, Atomic Blonde, and. John Wick. The film Lucy even included Oldboy actor Choi-Min Sik as the villain.
No mention of this? Don't get me wrong, I love the American revenge films, especially John Wick, but give credit where credit is due. It was obvious to me that this onslaught of revenge films in the US was inspired by South Korea's revenge film genre. Don't believe me? India's film industry even shamelessly ripped off a couple of the SK movies I mentioned. basically made counterfeit versions of the movies and gave them a different name. At least the the American revenge film genre has the decency to make their own stories and movies, but the directors of John Wick not mentioning the influence shows a lack of respect IMO.

See I noticed that no innocent people died and it made me think about the world even more. How do they define an innocent person? Like law abiding innocent? Or are people who break the law outside of gangs classed as innocent too? What if someone hires an assassin to kill an ex lover with no criminal history but the person calling the hit is just angry their relationship failed and doesn't want their ex lover around anymore? Do they take hits from everyday civilians or only in their crime world?
There's so much more we're not told yet we're told enough to make the world make total sense, even if it's a bit weird that half of New York are assassins. I really want more. 3 movies is usually a good place to stop but man, there's just so much lore to unpack that it could run for another 3 movies and if they're made with the same amount of love and care, I'd binge them all multiple times a year!

To take the coin as a currency is wrong. It is more like having a Dubai First Royale Mastercard. Flashing that thing around ends problems such as this flight/this hotel/this show is unfortunately sold out and are you telling me that I can not buy myself a Patek Phillipe today? suddenly turns into no sir, the shop is open for you in 45 minutes.
These cards are not just limited to the credit rating and cash on account. They are invitational. Being rich is not enough to join the club.
In a strange sense, a lot of the economy of the underground in JW seems to be strangely monopolistic, to the level that it is almost communistic. Everyone works for the high table in the end. Could central people in Soviet enjoy a fine cognac? Of course. Even though they were not for sale in the average store they were available for those with the right book.

I just rewatched the first Film yesterday, and I think that one of the assumptions in this Video may not be entirely correct:
10: 29, when it says the absolute prohibition of Killing on the Grounds. when Wick is being attacked by Perkins in his Hotel-room, the desk-guy is calling on the Phone. When John picks it up, he says that there has been some noise complaints, and after realising John was attacked, he askes if he wants a Dinner reservation (which in this universe means, a body disposal cleaning unit. So, I'm guessing, if you are attacked, you can defend yourself by killing your Attacker. just outright killing is not allowed (like in JW2)

I really hope chapter 4 is better than 3. I firmly believe the third outing is the weakest in alot of ways. I feel the third should have been the last and would have been great since there are many rumors of spin offs, which I am down for. Since it didnt though, the info dump of a movie hurts the lore. The first two movies are extremely subtle with what we know and find out organically. However, the third forces so much on us all at once that I feel it hurts the movie. If there was a fourth planned, why not stretch the lore more. Now, with the inevitable fourth movie we are not going to have much background lore to surprise us.

Thanos kills John Wick's dog to check if the Soul Stone is inside. John Wick headshots Thanos and says: Yeah. John Wick puts the Infinity Gauntlet on and reverses time with the Time Stone. Both the dog and Thanos come back. John Wick kills Thanos with the Tactical Assault Rifle again and grabs his dog and the second Infinity Gauntlet. He places his dog inside his house and keeps the two gloves for antiques in case he needs to use them later on. Deadpool calls. John Wick smashes the phone with his sledgehammer and ages from stress. He becomes old and is buried by his dog. The End

Ignoring that George Orwell (1984) recovered from neck wounds received fighting fascists & Stalinists at the real Continental Hotel in 1930s Spain (Wiki. JW as sequel to The Matrix & 1984. The John Wick metaverse is ignored. MMA & bang bang action is used to develop obvious interdimensional immortal bio machine (aka battle angel) meta reality that really does bleeds into every day life. Mentioning that invites gaslighting & potentially relegating JW to Star Wars, Endgame & Harry Potter intentional mediocrity (the latter exceeded by Fantastic Beasts prequels.

Keanu Reeves did all the fight choreography, but he's said in an interview with Stephen Colbert that stunts along the lines of getting hit by a car, he will have the stunt double do it. Also in the same interview, he said that he trained with Charlize Theron while she was preparing Atomic Blonde as they were both training at the same place while preparing for their respective movies. Also, there is a Strategy game similar to how XCOM plays called John Wick: Hex.
