GoT Star Slams Fan Petition For Season 8 Remake
video description
GRRM stated to really represent the books they would need to go up to maybe 12 seasons. If the man who created the world of A Song of Ice and Fire believes what we got is not enough, who is anyone to disagree. No one knows this better than GRRM.
D&D refused all this. The fact HBO were willing to go all in makes me think all the excuses to justify the lack of ghost and other CGI tools is complete BS and rather than expense it was just lazy filmmaking.
D&D are writing hacks but incredibly smart businessmen. As soon as they started to catch up/pass the books, they slowly turned the show and accelerated in the last few seasons to make Games their own personal job application for Disney.
D&D Star Wars trilogy confirmed Jan 2018 and coming soon.
They wanted it done ASAP and their narcissism would not allow for any potential scenario where Games continues without them at the front taking credit, even though I believe they heavily relied on ghost writers and they just skimmed the internet looking for ideas on what would be cool.
The ending itself is irrelevant now, as the journey to the conclusion was so rushed it felt like the showrunners were desperately trying to get an unwanted house guest to leave before their wives got home.
The ending does not work because from a storytelling perspective, it does not earn it. Does not mean cast and crew never worked hard on the show, well most, not all. But the all time greats like The Wire and Breaking Bad earn their status as they not only maintained quality but concluded in a well-written and executed way.
Games might be a cultural phenomenon but so was reality TV, big does not always mean good and something that starts great needs to work even harder to stay great. As with anything in this medium, it lives and dies by the writing first. If that fails, structure fails, logic fails and no matter how good everything else is all you are left with is a beautiful looking mess, but a lot of people find that very easy to record themselves reacting to and putting it online for attention. That's the culture.

Here's my thoughts on the petition.
I'm going to try to take the middle ground here.
1st off the fans have no right whatsoever to sign a petition.
The show belongs to HBO and they can decide what to do. The books were written by George RR Martin and he gets to decide how The Story goes and ends.
We as fans don't get to decide. It's also super unfair to demand those actors and actresses to start from scratch all over again. I can only imagine how hard their work was, especially the animators and crew stunt men put into this show.
The actors and show are not our property to do with what we like.
Secondly in defense of the angry fans, I do agree this season needs to be redone. We deserve better than what we got.
It was rushed. It made illogical sense. A lot of characters were out of character. Too many plot holes were made. There was far too many deus ex machinas especially during the battle of the long night. Too many questions were left unanswered.
I'm not angry because I didn't get the happy ending I wanted I'm angry because I didn't get the bittersweet ending that makes logical sense.
This ending was just horrible. Plain and simple.
I would like to see this season get remade but it's not going to happen.

I think, that these actors speaking out dont actually realise that the fans dont really believe that they will redo the last season, and they are not really demanding it either. The petition is just to show D&D that the fans think that they were really bad at their job, and that they are disappointed that their or I should say our favourite show was half aed, because D&D were looking at that Star Wars money, and didnt care anymore they just wanted to be done with this project. Which is a real shame, because the people who were part of GoT (like the actors and the crew whom all deserve praise for their dedication and marvellous work) and the audience deserved better, than what we were given.
Also being unpredictable and making sense is not the same thing. Even if something is unpredictable, it has to make sense in the big picture. Bran becoming king is not character development; he had no real character development! Him becoming king just makes him look like an evil dictator using everyone around him to gain power. His detachment from humanity and lack of real empathy will make him a really ruthless ruler. Just saying. Also it came from nowhere, and literally anyone would have been a better choice.

I get what hes saying but fans are not just dissatisfied because they didnt get the ending they wanted.
They are mad because not only did the storyline feel rushed but the whole season was, from the writing to the final edit it all felt rushed. and considering they were working on it for 2 years has us all stunned that it was such a let down.
Dont get me wrong a lot of fans just hate the ending, i think it was crap too, but there is genuine reasons behind the anger.
Why was bran all im not brandon stark anymore last season but all of a sudden hes bran the broken?
The fire before drogon melted the chair was crap cgi.
Grey worm turned into a complete douche out of nowhere.
No way sansa would just allow jon to go back to the wall. cant she just pardon him anyway? She is the queen in the north right?
WHY THE SHIT were the two most developed characters killed off/thrown aside to the wall? Jon has been the only character in the series that has shown genuine integrity throughout and hes accomplished the most out of them all. his reward is banishment to the wall and then desertion?
Theres so much more but ive gone on enough.

You can't please everyone-true. But this completely goes against everything done thus far with ALL the characters. What's the point of Jon being Targeryen if he didn't do S in the season till he killed Dany? Why Jamie ditch his life to die with Cersi? Why Arya spent years being an assissain to leave Cersi when she was in her grasp? Why Dany flipped wayyyyy overboard when she was liberating people and just punishing olnybad guys for the most part? Nothing she's done thus far could've indicated she'd commit mass genocide on a city she came to claim and destory the place her ancestors built when in season 6 or 7 said she don't want to be Queen of Ashes? And everything just goes against all forms of logic and common sense. And Isaac is mad about the petition cuz he may not be King if it were remade. Characters doing what we don't expect may be ok, but but not on this grand scale the writers made all characters do things that were-plainly put: OUT OF THEIR CHARACTER COMPLETELY. Isacc, please carefully reevaluate everything the writers did from season 1-7, then look at season 8 and ask yourself: Does any of this make sense or logic?

I have no doubt that the actors and crew worked incredibly hard which actually makes me more angry - they deserve better!
I have no issues with where everyone ended up - my problem is that the character journies were INCREDIBLY rushed. Major development occurred as throw away lines or convenient circumstances. One of the reasons I love GoT is because it took the long road and made me appreciate the character's growth. If the rest of the series was written with this pacing, I think it would have been dropped.
Could anyone imagine Sansa as Queen in the North in season 1? It's believable because the audience experienced all of the moments that made her character strong.
I imagine the conversation going something like:
Well we know Bran needs to be king and Jon needs to kill Danny but I need to go on vacation so we need to wrap this up- I know we will just have Tyrion suggest Bran because he has a good story and we will have Danny go off the deep end because she sees someone close to her die

Wasn't it revealed that Homestead-Wright thought that the script was a joke when he first read it?
Personally, I think asking to remake Season 8 is not worthwhile. but I would rather see HBO produce a mini-series Sequel for the following two reasons:
- First, we can't unsee the awfulness of Season 8;
- Second, the actual plot developments aren't really the problem, the awful writing/execution is.
I would love to see a sequel where they get into all kinds of crazy stuff: Sansa remarries but ends up being infertile (especially if it's revealed that it was a complication from when Ramsey impregnated her and she had a makeshift abortion); Jon struggles with keeping his vows, especially since the lineage of both Stark and Targaryen families are at stake; Arya realizes that sailing aimlessly sucks, and she settles down with a savage people; etc.

I think he's missing the point. And I think it's even more absurd that he is the one saying that he think it's absurd. 7 seasons of him going through a million things to become the three eyed raven and then he does literally nothing, but sitting in a wheel chair playing bait! The whole mythology of the white walkers is just a dead end? He was supposed to go back in time and do SOMETHING that would lead to the killing or unmaking of the nightking. If he died doing so, if he was gonna be stuck in time (like the previous 3-E-R warned him and which would have been great foreshadowing) was open to the writers, but not yo Theon I'm going to leave now fly up and then be like Hi Nightking, you know what. nevermind. I ain't gonna do sht) wow. A man has seen greater endings. A man is disappointed.

The decision to make Daenarys a genocidal maniac who murders 100, 000 people was a bad one, and I dont like George Martin for it. Are we to believe that Tirion and friends were sitting at a table just weeks later talking about rebuilding brothels? They must not have cleaned up the bodies of the dead women and kids, and they didnt mention body disposal once, it was swept under the rug like much else in GOT. The writers trivialized Genocide, they used it as a cheap Plot Device to justify killing Dany. They are very unintelligent people, and that unintelligence in Season 8 is why they are now getting criticism from a Majority of their audience. Disrespect? Did they disrespect genocide victims by making them into a Plot Device?

One of the most epic shows ever in TV history had a better ending than 90% of tv has ever had. There were some cool shots in the last battles. It wasn't perfect, but it's also kinda wasn't as bad as people make it out to be. IMO even 2 more episodes would have done it more justice to kind of explain things but then again, there were likely other variables at play like budget, etc. How much does a show like this cost and how close were they to their threshold? Maybe it was that angle that rushed it. Lena Headey getting a million dollars to lay on her side for 10 seconds in some rubble may have been one of those variables and who knows how many others like that there were?
