Details About The Lord Of The Rings TV Series Revealed Linda: I understand the creators' intention to include familiar characters, but I seriously believe that this can also ruin the show. My heart, too, desires to see young Galadriel and Aragorn, but the expectations for both the development of characters and actors are very high at this point. Not to mention the writing in overall. Plus, the fans of fantasy series are extremely vulnerable and triggered after the TV fiascos, which do not need to be mentioned. I believe that it would benefit the show more if they would not linger on the familiar faces, but bring in new characters and sets as well. This would give them a chance to open new realms for the fans and relieve themselves from this 'living up to expectations' burden. I really have high hopes for this show, but on the other hand I strongly believe that not all great books can on should be brought to the screen. Sometimes our own interpretations and imaginations are all we need. For example, for me the GOT show ruined the books as well. I don't even care about them now, nor do I care for GRR Martin's vision of ending. Not to remind you, we already saw that 'The Hobbit' did not live up to the expectations and left many of the fans bewildered. And 'The Hobbit' was directed by Peter Jackson who should have know better. So I'm a bit scared how this show could affect my relationship with Tolkien's lore.

So everyone who is worried about other races coming in more than the storyline? Shut the hell up, realize the time this story was written, he wouldn't have any other race in the story regardless because during that time, no one actually thought about. If he made the Lord of the rings now, maybe we wouldn't have an black elves but they wouldn't all be white because now those are things people pay attention to when they write, since it's the norm. On top that a lot of you are saying that if there is Asian king, Mexican dwarf, or black Hobbit the story will automatically be terrible. If that's how you truly and honestly feel then you don't really like a damn thing about those books, doing the characters and the species right is what it's important not the amount of melatonin or eye features put into appearances, y'all should be ashamed of yourselves
And if you want to insult me go ahead, I stand by what I said

I was hoping they would do the 1st age, the Silmarillion is possible with a series, the beginning of Morgoth and the war between the Elves would make a cracking storyline not to mention Luthien and Beren and Glaurung the great worm, I reckon theyre going to add a lot of hollywood glitz, characters that arent in the books and turn it all to shite, I hope i'm wrong, but I'd bet money they get the wrong people to do it! If DB Weiss and the other bell end has anything to do with it I wont even watch it!

I would prefer them doing series based on the Silmarillion dealing with the first age and the beginning of it all. the awakening of the first children. the theft of the silmarils. the kinslaying and the doom of the noldor. the wars of beleriand and of course the fabled tale of beren and luthien, the first and greatest tales of the love of a mortal man and immortal elf woman. I mean, might as well start at the very beginning if your going to place the GREAT TOLKIEN'S works on tv

I think an anime show of the LOTR would have been much easier, cheaper and quicker to make.
anime is very popular in the West these days.
and the entire LOTR stories could be told in this format right from the beginning.
I really want to see a prequel about the destruction of the Kingdoms Of Arnor by The Witch King Of Angmar.
that was one of the best parts about the LOTR lore.

People are already saying I hope they dont put any BLACK characters in there! Im sorry but who cares what ur skin color is, this is a FANTASY world where ANYTHING can exist so as long as the acting and dialogue are good, and true to the story please just shut up ur ruining it for the rest of us that dont give a shit what skin color the actors have

Either this new show is loyal to all source material, or it is it's own thing and just using the name.
It cannot be creative and still be LOTR, Middle Earth, or Tolkien.
This is the #1 reason no one liked the Philip K Dick movie adaptations. Hollywood is not creative, they just mimic and like the dark lord melkor, they twist and pervert.

I personally would like to see the fall of Fornost and or Arnor.
I would also like to see Angmar test Imlandris' defenses.
I would like to see how Sauron recruited the peoples of Harad, Umbar, and the Far East under his banner.
And would also like to see more of Gil-Galad leading up to death during the Battle of Mount Doom.

You do know they can get galadriel and Elrond back. They were present at this time. Gil galad and Isildur and Elendil were in the lord of the rings prologue but I hardly doubt those actors will come back. Too bad. Harry Sinclair looked awesome and underated as Isildur. Even though he only spoke one word. And a few sounds. Lol.

Why can't people just call it Middle Earth TV show. Not lord of the rings tv show. People will get mixed up and think lord of the rings is getting remade. Its not. It actually most likely will be on the second age. With the making of the rings of power and the down fall of Numenor and the war of the last alliance. Most likely.
