but I work in the film industry doing special effects and when the studio steps in to make insane requests and impossible deadlines, it almost always ends up a huge failure. Directors are usually forced to make chaotic and unrealistic decisions because they have idiotic studio execs breathing down they're necks which makes it impossible for any director to create anything noteworthy. Example, I worked on Xmen, Last Stand and one studio exec wanted to have glitter on Juggernaut's helmet. Glitter. because he thought that would make the film better. This is what many film productions have to endure and put up with to make they're film. It's always the studio's fault, studio execs can be a good director's worst enemy most of the time.

I may be the only one saying this. but. I liked it. I liked it enough to go out and buy the thing and say that I liked it (expecting to be publically humiliated for doing so. I just don't get all the hate. The songs were catchy, got stuck in my head, the acting was great, the choreography was great, I don't know what people were expecting from a movie about a West End/Broadway musical about alley cats living on the streets of London, which was based on a book of poetry! I think art is art, and people need to try and suspend their beliefs, and just go into something non-judgementally and view it with an unbiased and innocent eye. I know that is asking a lot of most of society, but I find that doing so makes things much more enjoyable to view.

I think if this movie came out 15 years ago, and didnt use all the CGI, and had entirely new producers who didnt force all the rushed decisions, it couldve been enjoyable.
Like, there are scenes that work. Like the original model for Sonic the Hedgehog. One of the trailers worked pretty well, despite the. Weird looking model. But what was with Cats director and producers? Was this like their first movie ever?

What went wrong with CATS?
1. It was mostly CGI. We got Marvel movies for that.
2. Musicals very rarely make money.
3. And I'm gonna go ahead and say it. the perv quotient from the fuzzies out there.
I bet this waste of celluloid didn't make its money back even counting VOD rentals.

I don't like musicals in general, but I don't know why everybody was mentioned, the look of the characters? I saw the original theather one, and the costumes are the same. Every charakter has human face and hand in the original. Generally this type of musical dont make sense at all.

You know what would have saved this? Getting rid of the makeup and using the traditional costumes and makeup. Sure, it wouldn't have done fantastic, but it would have drawn in theater fans who wanted to see a true adaption of the beloved musical rather than a visual mess.

Just because something is loved in a theatre on Broadway doesn't mean it will translate to thousands of cinema seats I wonder if abrillent film adaption of Carmen to day would make it's money back and Cats isn't Carmen

They should have just stuck with the costume designs from the musical and perhaps enhance it a bit digitally. Cheaper and easier (on the wallet of the studios and the eyes of the audience.

Hell a movie made about CGI Dog human hybrids would of been more better movie. Even though I like cats this was definitely a movie that deserves to go into the litter box.

Awful cast for this kind of movie too. The one saving grace is their hero Hillary didnt invest in the movie or otherwise theyd be visiting the Heaviside Layer for real.
