In fact this synopsis is so smoothly spun, it looks like it's put out by Disney on their own behalf to make them look good!
If this really IS a genuinely independent video, then why does it not mention the 2009 MULAN live action movie with Zhao Wei which more accurately fits the description she gives to this version - gritty realism indeed!
It made me laugh out loud that as she said those words you saw an invading set of baddies leap from the backs of their horses onto a vertical wall which they simply ran upwards as if gravity didn't exist instead of nursing busted noses & muttering. What were we THINKING! Now THAT might have been gritty realism! ;)

Does anyone in this comment section even get that this movie is meant to portrait the ACTUAL legend of Hua Mulan? Because all I see here is people complaining that this movie will not be Mulan and that they shouldn't call it Mulan since it's not like the 90s version. If any of you would have done a little more research, you would know that the movie from the 90s is actually not really worth being called the story of Mulan. This new Movie is not meant to be a remake of the 90s film but a movie about the ACTUAL TALE OF MULAN THAT HAS BEEN EXISTING IN CHINESE CULTURE FOR CENTURIES!
So don't say this is not Mulan when it's clear that this is actually more accurate and more realistic to Chinese folktales than the movie from 1999.
And if you don't believe me, try looking up the legend of Hua Mulan. I'm sure you won't find a talking little red dragon and a cricket.

I like how they're changing it from the animated. It may not be as accurate as possible but I hope it will be good. A lot of people complain that the remakes are just a live action version with nothing new added but when they change up mulan for the live action people also complain. Disney is never known for being historically correct so I don't know why people expect it to be.

Information (probably) correct; narration BORING, yabbering/droning on and on and on. Take a course in storytelling. Pauze for breath once in a while and do add a few higher and lower notes, like normal speach instead of sounding like a typewriter/machinegun.

I'm honestly excited for Mulan. I'm really disappointed that Mushu won't be in this movie (he was my favorite) and that there will be no music. Music can really contribute something to a story. But I'd like to see all the new cultural references.

Yes, I'd like to see the mushu too. However this version of the movie seems to more zoom on the lady role by substituting with a phoenix, to delineate the theme that woman can be in charge as the main general.
