Movie Remakes That Were Better Than The Original
video description
You should do one one of these on movies that are better than the book they are based on. I'll give you one to start on. Almost any Sherlock Holmes film is good fun but the original books are dreadful. Check it out. Or perhaps the best Dr. Watson. The correct answer is James Mason although none are really bad. The best Holmes is still Basil Rathbone although most are great. Another series for this kind of videos is the best Doc holiday and Wyatt Earp. Although Kirk Douglas and Dennis Quaid were spectacular, Val Kilmer is clearly the best IMHO. I think I favor James Garner over Kurt Russel. Try a video on best Ike Clanton or Big Nose Kate.

I do agree w/ True Grit. Old movie was a classic, but Jeff Bridges is a hundred times the actor Wayne was. John Wayne honestly. wasn't a great actor. I've seen dozens of his performances, my grandfather watched old westerns every day for 20+ years, and every single performance was wooden and boring. He was the same character in every single one, even when he was cast as Genghis Khan.

The original film The Fly was brilliant, disturbing, thought provoking and emotionally unsettling, a true great that merits watching again and again. The remake was a combination of special effects and Jeff Goldblum overacting. It's a popular statement that the remake is better, it's also total and utter rubbish, usually spouted by fools who have never watched the original.

Where are The Blob (1988) and Red Dragon? Boo this list. JK. But seriously, where are they? Btw, I love Michael Mann's Manhunter.
And, as great as The Departed is, Infernal Affairs is equal to it. So I'm actually glad it missed the cut.

Before even watching this video, I'm going to guess that Ocean's 11, Sabrina, Gone in 60 Seconds, and The Thomas Crown Affair will be on this list.
Now that I've cheated and looked at the list below the video, I only got one right.

The Dawn of the Dead remake was WAY better than the original version. More terrifying with running, leaping zombies and had a much better pace. The original Dawn of the Dead put me to sleep when I watched it.

You are WAY off the mark on True Grit, it isn't half as good as the john Wayne version and the remark stared a man who thought mumbling words that you can't understand was a good idea. It was really bad.

No, original Pete's Dragon far exceeds the remake. Yea, the new one's visuals are better, considering the advances in technology, but it's still not better. It doesn't have the heart or feel, at all.

The original Pennywise was better because it made more sense. The new one is too scary to be able to attract children to him. Even so, part 1 of the new was pretty good. Part 2 was utter garbage.

The 2019 remake of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels was immensely disappointing, I regret wasting my time watching it. The Steve Martin version is wonderful and I've watched it several times.
