Why This Luke & Leia Scene Was Cut From The Empire Strikes Back
video description
the story line would turn out differently. we have Solo noticing that Luke and Leia are involved with each other. fighting his urge to butt into this Han figures.
well I've been in the rebellion long enough Luke wants her fine I'm not getting in the way.
with that he wishes the both of them good fortine in his own way but feels bad she didn't pick Han.
Luke feels bad for Han a little sadness as they watch him and Chewbacca leave. of course the Wookie can not leave wirhout giving Leia a sad goodbye hug.
then it's back to bounty hunting although one bounty hunter catches up with Han Solo.
Han realizes that others are hunting for him. Dengar wants to capture and bring Solo directly to Jabba the Hutt. shots are fieed but Dengar has armor that is invincible to laser weapons.
Solo fires at the only place that is vulnerable Dengars face.
he is dead but Solo knows other bounty hunters will be coming after him. Chewy lets get out of here that slimy piece of worm ridden filth will get no credit reward from us.
Han decides it's time Jabba was out of business for good.
meanwhile Luke misses Han there was a friendship bond.
Obi Wan appears to him surprosingly in his much younger ghost form.
Luke I know what is troubling you It's your friend Han.
he is a great pilot I wish he didn't turn his back on the rest of us!
Luke you must except that everyone chooses there own path in life. when your father turned to the dark side. it was difficult. for me to except. I thought that I could pursuade him to return to the lighter side again. if I had chosen to join him both you and Liea would be in the service of the empire. Solo has chosen his path a different one from yours.
we could use a good pilot like him I wish he cared more about others than money.
you must let go of what your afraid to lose or you will end up as Vader did.
and we come back to Solo that is now going to rid himself of being employed by Jabba.
I think I'll leave it there well that's mt insight to what could happen in the alternate story line. take care and may the force be with you.

Lucas was forever shooting scenes never intended to be in the final cut.
Example - the line - Obi Wan never told you the truth about your father. had multiple takes
I am your father.
He is your father
He killed your father.
Also, if you had been alive in the 1980s and had attended a Star Wars con back then, you know that these scenes had been shown, by George Lucas himself, to the fans, as an example of how he managed to keep the actors ( and info leaked to fans by the crew ) from knowing in advance the final outcome of his stories.
As one of the larger example of this is a movie title - Blue Harvest: Horror Beyond Imagination.
Also, when Alan Dean Foster wrote Splinter of the Mind's Eye published in 1977, Lucas told him to keep the Luke and Leah relationship chased as if they were siblings.

This is another example of Lucas being lazy and just hashing together a plot contrivance that falls flat instead of working the more difficult and believable approaches necessary for good story telling. Many fans are blown away by it, just like they are by the reveal of Darth Vader as Luke's father. I was let down as better writing would have had the I'm your father be just another example of Vader being evil with ability to manipulate and psych out his opponent as he was powerful, a much more deserving villain. Instead, Lucas always opted for tying up plot points in a neat little bow, completely illustrated in his tying up the Arthurian love triangle by making Luke all happy about the outcome instead of struggling with it as a fleshed out character would need to do.

Its a Freudian reference I believe. the idea that our first love is often our mother/father/sister/brother and you spend your life trying to find someone who is like them (provided you had a good relationship with them obvs. My brother has done this. his partner is defo a good mix of me and mum, but not look like us (thank god)
Bit weird considering lots of kids watched these films, and little girls would identify with leia, and boys identifying as Luke or Hans Solo. mmm Its funny - you can see far more symbolism and allegory in films etc as an adult, that you watched as a kid (and didnt totally get it. They do this now with kids films - mostly to keep the parents entertained too - theyre the ones having to suffer through it even though its a U after all.

I think you can get over it by simply saying that they didn't know they were siblings, and so their initial reaction was natural until they found out that they were siblings: being a Radio 4 Listener you hear all sorts of stories from real life, and I think I heard something along those lines before on the station (when real people were into each other because they didn't know, until they were told the truth by their families.
Has no-one ever looked at a fellow sibling, and not briefly thought that they weren't actually good looking?

Its called a retcon morons. They never planned to make them siblings in the 70s and only did it because the Vader reveal worked so well that Lucas did it in every movie he ever made afterwards. Irvin Kirshner the producer of Empire who got fired for going over budget already stated that the there is another line referred to an unreleased separate male character who would be shown in the third movie. The interview is reprinted in Rinzlers excellent making of Empire coffee table book, which apparently you havent read. shame on you.

I have the impression that yes. Lucas' decision to make them brother and sister was a bit confused, for sure. Or he shouldn't have made them brother and sister, or he shouldn't have made scenes of so many passionate kisses between the two exist.
P S - And when I saw the films for the first time, in the 80's, I was still a child, and, I shipped them both - I can't hide that I was a little disappointed that they were brother and sister,

That's silly. They didn't know. The feelings Luke had were obvious in the first movie IMHO. I've never had a sister, so the gross factor is a little hypothetical for me. But the physiological similarity could be mistaken for chemistry. Like in Sliders when Quinn fell madly in love with the woman who turned out to be him - his counterpart in that universe was female.

03: 01 - No. That's incorrect. Star Wars (A New Hope) in 1977 was meant to always be only one movie.
It wasn't until after the film became a huge success, that the studio wanted a sequel. So that makes your fact pointless since Lucas had no idea that Luke and Leia were siblings all along and that Vader was their father until he wrote Empire.

George Lucas Knew, at least before the end of shooting. Don't forget that in TESB
Obi Wan remind Yoda that if Luke turns to the Dark side there is Another Hope. It is Leia, since she is the one that feel that Luke is in danger and command Lando to go back and save him with the Millenium Falcon.
