Let me just say I wanted to HATE this movie!
Im a Tobey maguire trilogy fan so i wasn't much into Garfield but thought it was messed up what they did to him so when I saw some young kid cast I'm like
who's kid this is? this movie is gonna suck it's just appealing to kids!
But then it was just SO entertaining! the pacing, the humor, the action it was all done very well! of course it's not gonna be completely down to earth like Tobey Maguire juggling his life just to go home to a crappy 1 room appartment but it did what the Garfield films tried to do right. entertaining, funny, great action like the Spider-Man film we deserve should have.
totally support Tom Holland moving forward.

I'm not even sure if Michelle really is MJ, but if she is. I AM READY. She could totally pull off MJ, look up Zendaya with Red Hair, seriously. And her chemistry and her acting with Tom, those things are really what matters, she could definitely be a good MJ as well as Tom was Spider-Man. And come to think of it MJ in Sam Rami's trilogy was just Peter's Love Interest who he saved over and over there wasn't even much to her, but Zendaya growing up in highschool along with Peter. Yeah. I can totally accept Zendaya as MJ.

Okay so I guess I'm the only one who's glad they 'replaced' the MJ character? I actually find the comic version of Mary Jane slightly annoying (and the versions in the movies before this one too, tbh. I think Zendaya did an amazing job on Michelle and Zendaya and Tom have great chemistry (although they didn't talk much in the movie, in real life they have great chemistry.
Also, I'd love it if they would make Ned's character have more depth! He was great in Homecoming so I can't wait to see more of him.

This video expresses exactly what bothered me about the movie. I don't mind casting actors of different ethnicities to play classic roles in the movies, but they should at least resemble the original characters in some way. I felt this movie just took a bunch of classic characters, changed them entirely and gave them the names of the comic book versions even though they didn't resemble those characters in look or personality.

It's actually smart and crazy move of combining several characters to use. Even though MCU is making the movie, Sony is being restrictive to the characters and plot-lines (Venom issue right now for example. So merging some characters and stories to loophole themselves was bold yet successful to use Spider-man is the best way they can.

Why is everyone so upset about changing characters in the MCU? This is another universe, like the characters are not exactly the same in the Ultimate Universe and the 616 Universe, even Christopher Nolan said that the source material is not that relevant, what really matters is telling a good story in the movie, something this film did pretty good.

This movie is a joke, I dontt take it seriously, It is just a movie to support the shitty avengers universe which is what every superhero movie is about now. The original sam raimi triology is legendary, it can never be compared to the spiderman movies made after, which are unfortunately just for 12 year old audiences

the director Jon Watts confirmed that Michelle MJ is not the same person as Mary Jane MJ
edit: also in the high school version of Spider Man he gets together with Gwen before meeting Mary Jane (Gwen dies in most comics usually she is killed by Carnage and in one version she even becomes the host of Carnage)

Zendaya probably isn't Mary Jane, but i'm pretty sure she's the next love interest, they kind of teased that in Homecoming. I doubt Mary Jane will even be in the MCU, there probably won't be enough time to put her in the films, so I think the Michelle Jones MJ is what they'll go with. That's my take from everything.
