Recent Movies Many Found Too Disturbing To Finish sirpicksalot_: I consider myself a horror buff, and unfortunately, it takes a lot to disturb me. When I first watched Hereditary, I had to shut it off right after the Charlie scene. Alex Wolff's performance in the immediate aftermath is what made the scene disturbing to my core. I had to shut it off right when he pulled up to the house. I wasn't sure I'd be able to finish it. I ended up continuing it 2 evenings later. Because of how incredibly disturbing the entire film is, and because of the amazing acting, especially by Toni Collette, I consider it the best horror movie of all time. In fact, I don't know how it can be topped, even by Ari Aster himself. Midsommar is disturbing as well, but nowhere near the level of Hereditary.

The Babadook and Sinister are NOT that disturbing. The Babadook is poorly acted and has a dumb ending, and I did see Sinister, but it was unforgettable because I can't remember how it ends. This is the wrong time period, but if you want movies that are very disturbing, see the Saw movies, Seven, and The Brood (late 70s, maybe early 80s. Be warned, the ending of Seven will leave a hole in your stomach. And there are two images at the end of The Brood that will get seared into your brain for the rest of your life and once you see them, you can't unsee them.

As I was watching Melancholia, I kept thinking this is so depressing I should stop watching it, but I kept watching because it got such great reviews. I'm still sorry I watched more than 15 minutes of it. Soooooo depressing and took weeks to shake off feelings of doom & hopelessness. Of course, the reality we're living through now is as bad, and the same ending as the movie wouldn't surprise me at all.

Here's how disturbing We Need to Talk About Kevin is: I was at the cinema and saw the poster for The Perks of Being a Wallflower. It was just three people chilling out in front of a wall, and yet it made my skin crawl. I couldn't understand why until I realised one of those actors was the one who played Kevin. Just seeing their face again was enough to upset me.

We need to talk about Kevin is about as grounded in reality as Star Wars or lord of the rings. Not taking anything away from swinton, I thought she was great in it. Just think the circumstances and details of the massacre in the movie are so unrealistic. we should know by now with how many mass shootings weve suffered since that movies release in 11.

I don't like we need to talk about Kevin. Kevin's an evil little bastard who commits an atrocity of a school shooting remind me too much of modern day America. Mentally ill or just plain evil individuals committing modern day atrocities only for it to be forgotten about a few months later or a few years later.

It's not that they disturbed my friends and I. It was that they had no plot or storyline that could be followed in just one movie. Perhaps a mini series just work better with some movies like Twin Peaks. That didn't work as a movie but was a good mini series.

A lot of my favorite movies of all time are on this list. I love absolutely messed up, abhorrent movies. Its just such a great experience to have your senses attacked in uncomfortable ways.

The only movie Ive seen was Under The Skin and it was one of the most boring films I can remember. My recommendation for a disturbing film is Requiem For A Dream.
