The Haunting of Hill House was genuinely terrifying, but spiritual follow-up The Haunting of Bly Manor is a slower-but-still-spooky burn, with some major twists. So here's what you need to know about what actually happened. This is the ending of The Haunting of Bly Manor, explained. In the second-to-last episode of The Haunting of Bly Manor, we finally learn the truth about the Lady of the Lake. In a black and white flashback set in 1676, we learn that a widower the narrator calls Mr. Willoughby lived in Bly Manor with his two daughters, Perdita and Viola. If the name Viola looks familiar, it's the name Flora was etching on the chapel floor in Episode 4. After the widower dies, the daughters are at risk of losing the estate and their financial inheritance.

This season isn't horror or filled with any jumpscares but the story has it all, a little bit of creepy, very emotional and character development.
Plus, the background score is really awesome and the cinematic shots are so good that it feels like watching mini-movies.
Overall, this show isn't for everyone, especially those who wants scares and jumpscares, it is slow in between, but it's all worth it in the end because of the story.

There is no doubt that this is a great Series, but there happens to be a loophole. How did the narrator, i. e aged Jamie know about Viola's story? This was not explained in the last episode. How did she come to know about her a d also about all the ghosts and their characteristics of loosing memory and fading face with time? Anybody's explanation will be appreciated.

How is it that Charlotte and Dominic never encountered Viola or the footprints she left in the room. Let's say they are sleeping during the walk, they should have noticed the footprints when they wake up because Hannah can't just come into the room to clean it before they wake up.

episode 8 was brilliant, it perfectly explained the folklore & how the curse came to be! with a perfectly splendid first-person ideology backstory, also loved the fact that it was shot in black & white it perfectly captured the time period the depression & passing of Viola

I always wondered if Dani had shown viola her grave would that have had her realize she was dead and can be at peace? The only issue I think would come up is she s so old her memories are gone so she wouldn t even care or even know what Dani was showing her.

In the final shot, I was way too focused on the door (even with one rewind) to see if it cracked open the slightest bit before cutting to black.
I never even noticed Dani's hand on Jamie's shoulder until this video pointed it out.

Who is this video for? This is a beat-for-beat recap of the last two episodes. Anyone who watched the show would know this already? I thought this video would be some kind of analysis or interpretation of the themes.

An elegant yet sad lo-, I meant a horror story. Also loved the subtle piano music and how can I forget the 'Willow O Waly'. To put it simply Bly was not meant to be another Hill House. It was amazing in its own regard imo.

Not scary at all. Dramatic story-line is good overall but not as memorable as the first one. An 8/10 for me. If they are going for the gothic love story route, they should have added more scares. First one is superior.

While it was a good show, it was by no means horror. I felt like it could've been done a bit better. Especially given that it took 2 years after the Haunting of Hill House to be released. That's just my opinion.
