The Santa Clause is one of the most frequently-discussed movies in the whole Christmas canon. That's partly because, when you look at it closely, some of its details actually seem kinda bizarre, nonsensical, or even downright disturbing. Here are some things kids might not notice about this modern holiday classic. The central conceit of The Santa Clause is that, if something bad happens to Santa, the next person who puts on his suit will inherit his title. Of course, the movie works well as a comedy because the person who happens to do that, Scott Calvin, doesn't want to be Santa at all but is guilted into putting on the suit by his young son Charlie. Inevitably, the magic and spirit of Christmas eventually wins Scott over, but not until after a considerable struggle. Abby: The first The Santa Clause was just about perfect. What sense would it make if they went into the old Santa? It's not really a part of the story. This first movie was just about perfect. You can pick apart anything, nothing is perfect. Imperfect is life, and that includes Christmas movies. I just love that movie, it is very funny and Christmasy.

Funny lil special forces elves wear jetpacks and reindeer fly but the running joke is they can t invent a failsafe to keep Santa on the roof. Maybe that s part of the magic is Santa dies in close proximity to his perfect successor. The only way someone evil to take the mantle is do what Jack Frost did and trick him into using the escape clause.

Maybe the contract allows for a retirement if one can pass it onto another like his son. Going into family business can mean running the day to day operations of the north pole.
While he has a stepdad He will never be his real father he has a good relationship with.

They missed the Being high reference when Scott picks up Santa s sack and starts floating. Charlie: Dad be careful! Scott: Don t worry son! I was high a lot in the 60 s!
