This is downplaying big time how impactful that moment was for the future of star wars. It was amazing, it looked great. I understand if you want to see Sebastian play him, I'm all about that too. That episode was a home run though from start to finish, they have a budget and CGI Luke was cheaper and sufficient, just like fighters actors expect to get paid at least what they did in their last performance, I highly doubt they could have afforded Sebastian and still make the same product they did. On the upside Disney is obviously paying attention and hearing the fans, give this product a chance to grow on its own please, some fan service is awesome but too much may be bad.

People in general just don't understand how casting really works. It's not just about choosing an actor that is good and looks like the character. Otherwise everyone could do that should. It's about understanding the actor's charisma and how his performance (which is his own take and creation of that character) will fill the role. Sebastian Stan is great as the dark and conflicted Luke Skywalker as he showed that he can portrait that kind of character with Winter Soldier, but can he be a symbol of hope, a mentor? With Mark Hamill you can see through his eyes what's on his mind, with Sebastian Stan you have no idea as he is always mysterious no matter what role he plays.

Luke is never gonna show up again in Mandalorian. It's just a cameo appearance and Grogu I think is not gonna show up again in the next season. Grogu's story ends there that's it. If they make a spin off then maybe Luke and Grogu may show up. Time for another adventure for the Mandalorian and in fact it's already established - it's Bo- Katan Vs. The Mandalorian who's gonna wield the black saber story arch this time. Boba Fet will have his own show also. This will be like DC's Arrow birthing new shows and doing crossovers and stuffs.

No. Just bored and self righteous fans. The Luke Jon gave us is amazing and redeemed the character that KK, JJA and RJ ruined. We do not need Stan to play Luke. and the photos going viral are morphing pics. If you look side by side they look nothing alike. Stan has Marvel. let Hamill keep redeeming the character he brought to life. It is the LEAST Disney could do for him and us real fans. The Mandalorian is amazing, thank you Jon and Dave. It is how Star Wars should be done!

Why couldn't or can't simply deep fake Hamil's face over an actor? That tech is far greater than spending huge parts of their budgets on CGI? Or use chi to touch out the inconsistencies if glitching appears? Deep Faking has seriously came along in recent years and understand it takes serious time to produce, but then again, deep fakers don't have the money or system these tv production companies have, so there is no real excuse not to attempt this.

I m ok with the way it was done, it was very impressive technology for a TV show budget it looked better than Rogue One s effects. I appreciate and approve of the continuity it creates. And well recasting pssh take a look at the thumping success Solo a Star Wars story was, I d rather have CGI than that red hot garbage. Best part of computer effects is they can always be updated, this is Star Wars, just wait for a special edition if you re not happy: P

I grew up with Doctor Who's 1970s BBC Quarry effects and original Star Trek's styrofoam boulders. It's not the effects that are important, it's the story being told! And if we do want to get picky and demanding, I tend to be more audio than visual, so for me, another actor, no matter how look-alike, would be jarring unless they either managed to find someone who also sounds exactly like Hamill, or looped all of Luke's lines with Hamill's voice!

But for his appearance in this moment, you needed it to be him or as close as they could get to get that audience/fan connection. That instant you see his face is worth it. Ain t gonna lie, I teared up a little. But now that he s been established in this story, then someone like Stan could definitely fill the role from here on out w/o cgi.

For those critical of Lucas not using Sebastien for this cameo: Think for a moment. Sebastien is expensive now, he can't just show up for a cameo unless they have a full contract ready to rumble. This was Lucas putting their toe in the water to see how we would react to seeing Luke reimagined, and with any luck they'll be able to expand upon this with Sebastien (in a much larger content arena.

I like the CGI characters. The technology is there. It will only get better. I hope it continues. It was no surprise when a solo x-wing showed up that it was Luke. The green light saber and gloved hand cemented it. The Mandalorian is a surprise hit. I hope the future projects are as well. I hope they generate enough revenue to satisfy these costly endeavors.
