The firearm couldn't fire without pulling the trigger, thus he lied and pointed a firearm at someone and pulled the trigger.
He should've checked the firearm before accepting it, something that presumably he's been instructed to do many times.
He described to the police the differences between live, blank, and dummy rounds so he cannot say he wouldn't have known even had he checked the weapon.
Someone who can accurately describe the differences between types of rounds implies that they've had competent firearms training, meaning they must know to check a firearm before accepting it, and definitely before pointing at someone and pulling the trigger, which is undeniable that he did that.
He was completely negligent as an actor, producer, and human. He is absolutely responsible for the death of Ms. Hutchins, and he must be held as accountable as any other non-celebrity would be.

Blanks can still be deadly and can still launch projectiles at deadly speeds this is why the military puts stoppers on their guns when they do blank training. This is a case of gun safety negligence on the armors part. You never point a loaded gun at someone even if it s a blank in the chamber. If you are going to point a gun at someone take the military s approach and have a blocked gun with blanks while not fool proof this would severely reduce the risk.

I think it s funny how so many people in the comments are trying to take away the blame from him saying oh no, he would never do anything like that when he was ultimately in charge of the movie itself but again, another rich person who does something heinous will get away with it because they re rich and people will constantly support them even though they re terrible human beings

I like alec baldwin and own quite a few movies with him in it in my collection. My guess is that someone on the set either didn't get along with him and didn't like him and had a bone to pick with him and that person switched the fake ammunition with real ammunition and then the gun went off. It might sound a little far fetched but what do you guys think?

Oh come on, this is an ambitious Republican prosecutor who is playing to the Republicans base by charging the guy that played Trump in SNL. No one is going to tell me that actors routinely check their prop guns before using them in a scene. This is a craven political move.

If or when he goes to jail it would probably be one day for every year he s supposed to go to jail for all because he s famous. Cause they hear days not years while they re being told their sentence.

You would think that a tragedy like with the Crow and Brandon Lee would've thought people a lesson and not letting inexperienced personnel and actors handling essentially dangerous props.

This was a freak accident by all evidence and accounts. Hate that for the family of the victim. But Alec don't hurt self even more so by lying. It doesn't help.

Well I guess Mr. Baldwin will check a gun the next time someone from the prop department hands him a gun regardless of what they say.
