The decision not to portray the god slayings was a wise move. As it is, some senstive types take umbrage at the hints of Valkyrie s gender preferences as it is (an area that also drew flak in Dr. Strange In the Multiverse of Madness concerning America Chavez s parents.
Actually seeing prominent gods of actual countries and cultures may upset the ultra conservative types, especially those who cannot understand or refuse to understand that this is a fictional superhero/fantasy movie. Then there s Gorr s line: How many times have you prayed to your gods and didn t receive an answer to your prayers?
The loss of Jane Foster upsetting fans show that Marvel still does what it does best- creating characters fans can identify with and care for. And who s to say she s completely out of the MCU?
Love & Thunder not touching on the greater MCU also works- it gives non comic fans or those new to the Marvel Cinematic Universe a chance to see a film without having to watch the past films just to play catch up.
Thor: Love and Thunder is a very good film, and the tonal shift was a great misdirection ploy: critics lacking the patience to Watch/Listen & Understand think it was going to be campy like 1997 s Batman & Robin; instead it set the stage for a fairly serious film.
In the comics, Stan Lee & Jack Kirby had a Thor storyarc where it started comedically with Thor going to see Jane Foster at her apartment by taking a Taxi, then as the story progressed, Thor faced off against the Colonizers of Rigel.
Zeus dismay that superheroes having replaced gods as the ones mortals look up to can potentially make for a good ideological tussle between Thor and Hercules.

Thor is being treated like he s dumb again which he isn t, in age of ultron that thor was serious and wanting answers to his questions, grabbed Tony by the neck and was angry
Even in Infinity war while he was acting somewhat dumb by just mocking the guardians he was still serious by doing so and trying to get things done until the very end where he fought with all he had
End game he was depressed at first and we got to see pure power with no gimmicks from him, he ended up becoming a drunk so while he was comic relief there was a reason
Now he s back to his old self but still comic relief as the main character in his movies. Ragnorok had the best showing if directors wanna see Thor being funny at times but still being a great character.
To put it simply the hardest part to watch wasn t the movie not being as dark as it should ve been
Not sif also becoming comic relief
Not having 30 children get the powers of Thor because he can apparently do that
Not Storm breaker having a mind of its own and getting pissed off when Thor thinks about his old hammer
But Thor himself is much worse than what he once was.

What really grinds my gears and was such a wasted opportunity is them showing off Omnipotence city in all its glory yet didn't capitalize on Gorr showing up there and slaughtering gods. They would have killed two birds with one stone that way. They would have shown that Gorr is not to be messed with and actually very dangerous, they would show him butchering gods left and right (maybe make a slightly sad death of the god of dumplings) and would also tell the audience that nowhere is a god safe from his reach, further compounding the threat of Gorr. Just imagine the sight. Zeus suiting up to fight but trembling in fear, God's being slaughtered left and right and Thor and his band having to flee?

I might be different from most but I am happy they got rid of Thors friends, they were horrible in Thor 1 and 2 and I am glad they got cut out of the films. It's just my opinion but they made the earlier movies seem cheesy as hell.
Now for this movie, I personally did not like how they made Zeus seem like a fairy prancing around, and totally way too easy to beat and speaking with such a weird accent. Dude is Zeus for God's sake. And as this vid mentioned too much over the top humor.
Edit: Gorr deserved a lot more screen time.
But I still enjoyed the movie.

This was a weak entry for me. It felt like a special designed for TV
When you have repeating characters such as Jane in the movie and a character that is not only the whole protagonist but also one that won t survive past this movie, focus on Gorr!
Build the menace, build a sense of fear without comedy, make the final battle about Gorr! Make it clear that Gorr + Necro Sword is one evil and potentially unbeatable duo
Watching two Thors competing to be Thor was not fun for me but I did not leave this movie thinking Gorr could beat the shit out of Thanos

This movie was hot garbage! Marvel fans should demand truly adult movies with a sophisticated plot and strong villain and first rate effects that are fresh and new. Oh and let's drop the overdosing on the corny humor. The fans get what we deserve. We pay to see this crap because we are addicted to the genre and will consume any swill we are served. Let's boycott the next 3 big Marvel films and send a clear message to the powers that be at the studios, we will not pay for crap!

Was it the easy solo kills of other gods? Or the laughable Hercules? Or the wasted Ghorr? Or the not so subtle subtle push for the alphabet group? Or the fact they made Thor a joke yet again for another comedy film? Or the comedy that missed 9/10? Or the unrealistic quips during serious moments? Or Chris shoehorning his daughter in the film? Or the wasted Guardians?

I haven't seen the movie and don't plan on spending hard earn money for this. The title stinks and the fact that Natalie Portman can all of a sudden fight is way too much. Did she go to school to learn how to fight? So the hammer can automatically give you fighting skills? I'll wait for it to come out on Disney and maybe see it if there's nothing new to watch.

The MCU downfall comes from two things:
Tweens. They are forcing tweens into every story line. Whenever you force kids into a story in an attempt to pander to children. there goes a franchise.
Disneyfication great scenes and story lines not allowed in order to appeal to children, because they were considered to dark or violent.

Taika convinces Christian Bale to play the villain role, then cut out a bunch of his scenes. His acting and portrayal was one of the highlights and balances out the comedy. But he was barely in the film, so the movie was horribly unbalanced. The film was under 2 hours, they could have easily included 15 more minutes of Gorr.
