Bruce got out of the well, lowered the rope into it, the prisoners escaped.
One of them, probably well connected, helped him out financially, booked a private charter plane to drop him off as close to Gotham as possible.
Bruce gets into Gotham via the Underground railroad, mentioned in Batman Begins.
The question as to how he survived, he simply jumped out of the 'Bat' when it blew the top floors those skyscrapers off to quickly get the bomb as far away from the city as possible.
I think the movie was neato.

There was a series of one-page illustrations someone did, as a kind of 'mini-continuation' from the end of the trilogy, expanding on the story & adding new interpretations. One had Bruce & Selina settling down in Italy under new names & having a daughter, Helena, who would become Huntress; Jim Gordon's son, James Jr, suffered from a bad accident & schizophrenia to become Two-Face II; John Clack used the resources in the cave to become Nightwing; and a few others. I don't recall the name of the artist, so if anyone knows what & whom I am talking about, please send a link so I can see the drawings again.

But I my opinion like the actor said throughout the movie batman has become a symbol and a new batman taking his place is now a legacy batman is eternal Bruce Wayne is not. The Robin taking over Will eventually die and his successor will take over and so on and so on that is what batman has become an immortal force to fight criminals and bring justice back to Gotham so ending it there is by far the best way because it shows everyone that there will always be a Batman as his legecy gets passed down to others.

Chris Nolan left it on a high note, he is one of the best directors and knows to leave it where it is to become a perfect starting, perfect ending, legendary comic book movie. Anything that carries on from it now just tarnishes that status, this trilogy especially the dark Knight is held up as the best of everything. Best batman, best joker, best characters and director, the music scores by Hans zimmer who is one of the best also, it's the one everyone looks to when comparing other comic book movies

This superhero craze has become an overblown mess of too much going on with so many shared universes and forced reboots rushing to set up old and new characters again and again. They are going to ruin those superheroes like Superman, Batman, Spiderman, and others if they keep on with this blowout. That is what happened with Batman in the 90's after Keaton, and the Nolan trilogy gave respect back to Batman after a few years, but now it's just way too much saturation all the time.

Right when Fox figured out that Wayne fixed the autopilot program, that moment it became clear to us all that Batman most likely had survived. Seeing Wayne with Selina confirmed that Batman survived happily ever after.
Because Alfred knew nothing about the romance between Bruce and Selina. So if it was his imagination, he wouldn't see Selina with Bruce. That much is sure. He would've never wanted that either. Lol.

I'm a Marvel fan, I love Gaurdians of the galaxy more than just about anything, I love all the other films and avengers BUT this film is way more special because its a standalone legendary trilogy that every part was done by the perfect person and was made before super hero films went crazy and super common, this revolutionised comic book movies and nothing else can climb to its height

It's got to be another bat man with Christopher Nolan's plans and to bring out the new Robin and Bat Man. Please stick to the original cast of Christian bail and Jason Gordon Levvit. Wonder actors in my book for Batman and Robin! It's such a big mind expiring concept at the end when officer Blake finds the bat cave and it's a big wonder! Please don't let the movie end!

The other proof that Bruce Wayne survived is the missing necklace. When Waynes estate is being settled, they cant find the necklace that Selina Kyle had stolen earlier in the movie. That necklace was meant for her so that and the autopilot patch by Bruce Wayne are the proof to me that he made it. I absolutely loved the Nolan - Batman trilogy. It was a masterwork.

The story continues. There's another trilogy coming 'Nightwinger'. You might remember blake left the police force, only because like batman he too wanted to serve justice, which he thought would be through the batman way, so discover's the batcave and transforms into nightwinger. The movie is set to release in 2021. And the good news. Nolan would be directing it.
