The biggest problem isn't the voice direction, but that the attempt at that direction just doesn't sound like a character, rather it just sounds like a person. By that I mean the acting is kinda flat. Sure, give us brooklyn mario, but give it more oomph. Don't just talk the lines, preform them. Inflection, pronunciation, pitch shifting, rate of speech, just the general way you talk, all of these have to be dramatically shifted in order to sound like a character, otherwise you get the uncanny vally of just sounding like a person. Where rather than trying to sound like a character, it's as if the character is trying to sound like you. .. which you never want in character work (not referring to general voice acting, that's a separate topic) as that's just signs of an armature not giving any form of range/talent.

Remember when animated movie parts were cast for their voice quality and not just for how famous they were? Animated movies back then were BETTER for that very reason. I really miss those days. They used to just have occasional celebrity voices. Now they all have to have star power. And all I can think about when starting an animated movie is trying to figure out who the voices are and then I can't stop picturing the actor.

I thought his voicing was just fine and besides we just got 2 lines of dialogue, his voice is gonna be better in the movie itself! And it s the Pratt haters who hate him for no reason who are saying this! It s a far cry from the stereotypical, cartoony Italian accent, and that might be better! The rest of the cast sounds excellent too and the animation is spectacular, I honestly can t wait.

So what if he doesn't sound exactly like Mario, many Fan animations and skits that have Mario in them. Sometimes the person portraying Mario don't sound like the original and that's fine. Let the film makers and the other people working on the film have some artistic liberties. It's approved by Nintendo, Mario looks like Mario, without having to change his design, and let it go

The problem isn't Chris Pratt, it's that Charles Martinet (the voice of Mario) is still very active. The equivalent would be someone being casted to play Peter Quill in the next Guardians of the Galaxy right now. If Mario was going to be live action, I would understand casting Chris, but not as a voice actor with Charles available.

Movies looks great, twitter is the minority not the majority and this movie is more geared toward the younger audience. That's not to say adults can't enjoy these types of movies nobody wants to listen to Mario's game voice for 2hrs. Chris pratt sounds fine and the movie will do numbers

So why do people hate Chris Pratt! Wow! Cancel culture is so real and nasty. Hey world people can have opposite opinions than you and like people, places and organizations you do not like. Stop trying to destroy others lives and their ability to make a living. Stop it!

No one cares about his controversies, every actor, and actress, has them, they make mistakes all the time, just like anyone els. It s just the fact that we already had a set voice for Mario, so to change that, seemed kind of redundant.

People gotta remember there's 8+ billion people on earth. There's gonna be some doubtfuls & not everyone is going like it. But it's OK. I know the movie will be a success. I have nothing against Chris, he's starlord.

Only people who don't like Chris Pratt are people who disagree with him politically. He's good in the vast majority of his roles, also it's very hard to tell what a character sounds like from TWO SHORT LINES!

Ima just through this out there who cares? Could it be a better casting, yes. Will his voice make or break the movie? No. Let s move on and not dwell on the one negative thing, because 99% of it looks amazing

After rewatching the trailer a few times over, I can say NO, Chris as Mario is not an 'Ugly Sonic' screw-up. He's been awesome in every work he's been in, and he'll be awesome in this movie too

No, .no one but the blue check main stream media (like Looper) 'hates' Chris.
Fans just don't think Chris' voice fits Mario and that's fine, but not that 'we hate Chris for pete's sake.
