James Cameron may be one of the most commercially successful directors in Hollywood, but he s a terrible storyteller. Titanic may be his best told story on film, but Aliens, while gripping, borrows heavily from his days working as a grunt for Roger Corman. Avatar and its sequel may look spectacular, but its story steals from Dances With Wolves and other places far and wide, including marketing campaigns for sunglasses. But as long as you keep making what the public will buy, Hollywood will always have a place for you at the table.
