A Major Star Trek: Voyager Cameo Didn't Make The Cut For Picard

After Picard it seems to me that the natural spin off is something staring Seven of Nine, and I suspect that it'll take either hell freezing over, or over Ryan's dead body, to get get Mulgrew into that one as well.

The ending worked well, but missed obvious opportunities. The ending would've have made more sense with the Federation friends joining the Enterprise and giving it cover. The Ent being there alone and surviving kind of killed the believability of the series for me, Martok comes in with the Klingons, Kira with the Bajorans, Laris with romulans, Janeway with a relic fleet with Jake Sisko or Kassidy yates on a defiant class, Garak with the Cardies. Hell the founders would've been involved in this, maybe helping then warning star fleet torturing their people isn't a way to keep peace. Etc. I don't really buy the budget excuse, many of the actors likely would take a 10 second cameo for pennies. I know wishful thinking, but this seems a more impactful end. Starfleets past saves it

Just gonna say when it comes to a showdown with the Borg, you might wanna bring the ship and the Captain that wrote the book on the Borg, then rewrote it several times.
I know this is Star Trek Picard not Star Trek Janeway and they most likely didn t wanna over shine Picard with Her.
However logically speaking; would have been a nice combat scene the USS Voyager, Captain Janeway and the EMH fighting along side the D.
Also another thing I would ve love to seen; Tuvok at this time would be the Captain of Voyager-A, would ve loved to see that ship.

Early in this series it was made clear that any attempts to contact and query the bizarre events being discovered, was stonewalled.
So, this would have made a Janeway cameo silly. The only way to have her appear would have been as a changling to get around the silence, high up in starfleet command.
Her characters lack of presence in this final series suggests that the writers quickly homed in on the complexity of including her within the storyline.

Terry Matalas said the reason why Janeway wasn t on Picard is because they didn t want to have someone who s on a current Star Trek show to appear on another current Star Trek show. When it comes down to money, Terry said he spent every cent he could and honestly, Janeway is on a current show, we get to see her character in modern Trek. I don t think taking anything out of season 3 to put Janeway in would ve been worth it. I LOVE Picard season 3.

Janeway would have been cool, but I think the biggest missed character in actual story line sense would have been Cpt. Harry Kim. He would have been the captain of one of the ships in the fleet at that time, if they kept to the future history that they had in Voyager. Actually seeing him get taken out in the battle while trying to save his crew would have been a really good poignant sense of loss. That was lacking in the final episode.

Jeez, how much would it have cost them to have Kate Mulgrew do a day of shooting? I could see her showing up at Seven's promotion scene, just after Seven offered her resignation, and Janeway showing the holovid of Shaw recommending Seven's promotion. Then Janeway saying the line, Resignation denied!
Maybe a little quip about Seven not escaping the burdens of command so easily, thereafter.

I would have liked to see Admiral Janeway supporting Picard in the fight against the Borg. In my imagination, I imagined Janeway stealing Voyager in the fleet museum and together with the emergency command hologram keeping the ship running. I bet the virus Admiral Janeway infiltrated into the Borg in Endgame is to blame for the collapse of the Borg collective.

It is a pity instead of just saying F' it we cannot afford her they tried reaching out and seeing if she (or other cameos) would be willing to show up at a price point they could afford. Knowing how tightly knit the Star Trek actors are I have a feeling others would be willing to take a slight pay cut if it meant another one of the family got to show up.

You need not worry. Seven and Sydney have a relationship that beautifully mirrors the mother daughter relationship of Janeway and Seven. We will see Janeway in future trek. because it would be the most cathartic thing in the world for fans to see Kate Mulgrew and Jeri Ryan having a disagreement in front of Sydney that gets resolved.

I'm not surprised Kate Mulgrew didn't come in for a cameo, supposedly she and Jeri Ryan did not have the best relationship. But its hard to hate Kate for that they had a tv show and the producers brought in a young blonde in a skin tight suit for baywatch appeal and gave her more screen time than many others on the show.

I absolutely love the character of Captain Janeway! Kate Mulgrew made her powerful and in charge, but didn't sacrifice any of her humanity or femininity. I am just very surprised that we didn't get a cameo from Wesley Crusher! He was always such a huge part of the TNG saga, and Wil Wheaton is such a popular person!

Jeri Ryan spoke publicly about difficulties she faced on the set of Star Trek Voyager. It was a challenging 7 years for everyone for various reasons. It seems her joining the cast ruffled some feathers. Leading to tensions between herself and the person who per the video, did not end up in Star Trek Picard.
