I left my home when I was 17 and since then I always visit my parents onec or twice in a year. Now it has been like that for more than 11 years and my mom says the exact same thing that she don't want me to leave, she wishes she could put me back in her stomach. My husband thought it was creepy but It wasn't creepy for me at all. Because, I could feel what she feels about being away from each other for long time and not getting that chance to enjoy each other's company. I miss my mom, no one can ever understand their love.

Me and my mom went to go see incredible 2 together and I was so excited for this short cause I heard it was really good. By the end of it both me and my mom were crying and gave each other a short but sweet hug, because we both could relate to the whole short. However we were angry when some immature people in the theater started laughing and talking loudly about how weird it was.

This was adorable!
HUGE SPOILER!
When me and a friend watched the movie there was a toddler sitting behind us, laughing when funny bits came up and when Bao started crying she giggled and when Bao was eaten. SHE STARTED TO CRY! It was so sad yet funny, she was crying so much that the dad had to go out of the cinema to comfort her
And when she came back she was all giggles

My used to tell me the same thing, and I am not Chinese. I wish I could put you back inside my belly so I will know exactly where you are at all times. I think it is difficult for moms to raise kids in a very urban environment. I loved Bao by the way. Every single message was so obvious.

I cried. It was just so beautiful. And I noticed and liked the Chinese touches. The attention to detail was meticulous and I wish I could rewatch to really pick up on all the culture references. It was masterfully done and I look forward to seeing more from this woman. :)

I went to see Incredibles 2 during opening weekend and my theater was packed with little kids, so it was hard for me to connect with it emotionally because the kids kept laughing lol. Im hoping when I get to see it again Ill understand it better!

Who the freak cares about whether a man or a woman created the storyboard and final cut! If you are a talented person than that is what matters in the end! Only in the US does gender continue to keep rearing its ugly head constantly!

The one unfortunate thing I experienced with this short was that it came right before Incredibles 2. I was silently sobbing a few minutes into the beginning of the movie.
It was so powerful and I loved it so much.

2 b honest I thought the person who made the steam buns was a guy I couldn't tell at all that he was a girl I literally thought she was a guy there was nothing there that made me realize she was a guy not even in her face

So i went with my niece to see incredibles 2 because she wanted it, not knowing anything about it, like many of the adults there, we were all weaping at the end. So beautiful

I wont lie: when I first saw Bao, I didnt understand ANY of it. I thought it was a child playing out her relationship with a dumpling that she has with her estranged dad
reply

This was a really good short. A great allegory of empty nest syndrome. And I did notice the CN Tower in the short, so I guessed correctly the film was set in Toronto.

So happy this wonderfully cute short was directed by not just a woman but an asian woman. That kind of representation is so empowering to me as a half asian woman.
reply

she is amazing Bao is so precious I have to follow her & I need to see more of her amazing work in another animated project even a big movie that would be wonderful
reply

I'm a Chinese. I think the short film is more related to the Chinese American/Canadian audiences. I don't think it contains much of traditional Chinese elements.
reply

Fun fact: When the dumpling was playing soccer, a dog ran across the ball and that dog was the dog from Dug Days when it later came out 3 years after! :)
reply

I thought the short was a beautiful piece of pure art showing the tender love a mother can have and just how reluctant they are at letting go.
reply

I'm glad they made that msmojo video about bao because most people didn't understand about what that short film is about. This says a 1000 words

I love Boa and Coco but if Disney becomes an agenda driven company pushing identity politics or PC culture type stuff Disney will fall!
reply

when I 1st saw this short film, I couldn't hadle all of that bundle of joy, I just really live that dumpling, just don't eat him please!
reply

I also make dumplings with my mom, but only when I ask to make it with her, its sad because when I make dumplings, they turn out ugly: (

Also, this is way better than The Emoji Movie, even if Bao is a short film. Thats how you make animation, Sony Pictures Animation.
reply

When I watch this short, I cry and think about being with my family because you do not know how much time you have left with them.
reply

I didn't knew if I could really concentrate on Incredibles 2 after watching this. I'm glad this was my first cinema short movie
reply

I have seen the short in cinemas and it was outstanding. I cannot believe that the short Pixar film was created by a woman.
reply

The short set off confusion in the audience lol.
Everyone was whispering if they were in the wrong movie.

reply

I remember watching incredibles 2 and before the movie they turned on the short and I almost cried it was sad
reply

This short was adorable as it was emotional. I hope it wins Best Short Animated Picture at the Oscars
