I always felt like Nadine deserved more attention from her brother and mother after her dad died, before it he took care of her and understood her and after he died nobody cared about her struggles they treated her as over dramatic, but she had problems and she needed someone to talk to and she never had friends and her family knew that and still they never thought like let's see how she's been doing, and her brother legit didn't gave a damn about her, okay mum was falling apart and all I get it and he took care of the mum but how do you not think about your little sis, who had only 1 friend and you took her away from her and now she's alone, with her issues and awkwardnes and no one to talk to, he took her and Krista to the party and just left her alone, he didn't offer to intruduce her to anyone couse fy sis. idk I just find his character so annoying and selfish

I honestly think krista is not a bad friend she made a mistake but the thing is krista started to act like that because Nadine said then we are over and she basically ended the friendship because choosing is not a good thing I can tell where they both came from but honestly krista cant stop her feelings but she still is wrong and Im happy her brother is started to be nice and get along with Nadine but honestly I love krista 80/100 but I was a little upset she wasnt a bad bestfriend cause she helped her and everything she was amazing until her feelings got in the way and Im happy they are still together and Nadine and krista can be bestfriends again but the whole reason for this comment is that krista is not that bad

the scene where the brother finally snapped on nadine was definitely the strongest to me. even though people are thinking he was trying to play the victim, in my opinion, he wasnt. nadine was always talking about her and never really saw other peoples problems. yes, everyone deals with their own problems, but nadine never realized that. once darrian finally snapped on her, she realized that the whole world doesnt revolve around her. that shes not the only one who has problems. she finally saw someone elses point of life (darrians. i genuinely felt bad for darrian, and obviously nadine. definitely one of the emotional and strongest scenes

I have a love-hate relationship with this film. On one hand its one of the most relatable characters I have ever seen in our film, but on the other hand I really hate how they executed it. The girl has legit anxiety and depression and is one bad day away from killing herself yet they play it off as some sort of joke, and they make what everyone else does to her totally fine and she has to apologize for everything.
Like legit everybody besides erwin and the teacher, were pieces of shit to nadine and never helped her when she needed it.

I was really impressed with this film.
I thought it would be another awkward girl teen movie, but it stood out the most to me because of how REAL it really was. Feeling alone, abandon, hanging on to life and friends, feeling ignored by your parent, overshadowed by a sibling. I cringed in some parts because I saw myself in them. This is one of the more down to earth films that really do get into teens heads and I was impressed. It's not my favorite movie, but it's definitely worth a watch when you're feeling down.

Honestly, I understand Nadine's annoyance with Krista. Some people only have that one friend to be their confidant, the person who comforts and reassures them, etc. When Krista started dating her brother, she changed. While Nadine does have an unfair dislike towards her brother, I can't blame her. It's hard to come out of the shadow of a sibling who seems to easily succeed at life. Krista and Nadine were both bad friends to one another. I think that's very true to life of a lot of female friendships in high school.

I did not expect to cry during this movie. I balled my eyes out when Nadine had a realization that her brother had problems too, and when they hugged I lost it. XD Nadine could be seen as such a horrible person, which she is at some points, but she is so imperfect and is so unintentionally messing her life up that I could really feel for her. This movie is so unique in its genre, and I would want to watch it anytime I feel like I'm messing up.

I love this movie so much! It touched me so deep. This movie introduced me to Hailee Steinfeld. And ever since I have fallen in love with her, I think the way how the movie ended there's going to be another part because it ended in suspense. This movie has been the best Coming of Age movie ever. And I have seen a lot of them. This movie realated to my life in so many ways.

The Edge of Seventeen is one of my top teen movies, as it's so touching, relatable and heartbreaking all at once. Even though Nadine could be irritating and melodramatic at times, she's still a confused, vulnerable teenager who you root for. Erwin was my favourite character, and I was surprised to find out that his actor was about 30 when the film was made!

Am I the only one that got really mad at this movie's ending? Like why was she the only one who apologised? Krista should have apologised. Her brother should have apologised. Her mother should have too. I hated that she was the only one that came off wrong, while the whole movie was about her mental issues and her family completely ignoring them.

I think Krista was shitty to Nadine for ditching her at that party. If you invite someone to a party with you who isnt a partier, its shitty of you to ditch them. Nadine shouldnt have made her pick between her and her brother, but Krista did a terrible job of showing Nadine how her relationship didnt have to change things in their friendship.

Ive never related with a character more than I have since I saw this movie. my dad died a couple months ago after I turned fourteen. I have really bad depression and anxiety. I only have a couple close friends and my brother was always the golden child. Im also super sarcastic and sassy just like her lmao

Finally just saw this, and it was great. I expected it to be good based on the talent involved, but the fact that the trailers were hiding an examination of teenage depression (the meds she stopped taking, the intense mood swings) was a beautiful surprise, especially with her confession to Darien at the end.

I have watched this Movie for like 10 or more times already. For real. I so Love this Movie. And May I say? Nadine's Confession to her brother should be the number 1. Ahm, well that's just me. That's one of the most memorable part for me. Tho it hurts me bigtime.

I watched this movie for the first time last night and found it scary how much I related to Nadine, especially her personal pep-talk at the party and her heartbreaking drunken confession to Krista about what she thinks about herself.

#1 should've been when Mr. Bruner picks her up from the doughnut shop and takes her back to his house until her brother can get her. I thought it was heartwarming that he sympathized with her and his wife was so sweet to her.

The only thing me and this story do not have in common is that my dad didnt die and my best friend never slept with my sibling. But im an old soul just like her and this movie is possibly the most real movie i have ever watched!
reply

I dont understand how can this film be so underrated! Its probably the best teen movie Ive ever seen!
PS: In my opinion, moment #4 is by far the best! I believe I have never cried so much because of a movie scene before.

I literally watched this film for the second time last night at 1 am, and found it was weird that the phone said it was the 16th of October at the icecream shop and now msmojo are doing a video on it. Weird parallels.
reply

Why did they put the SEND button so close to the DELETE button? That was my literal first thought too when I saw the scene too. Like, who possibly thought that layout design was a good idea? lol
reply

I also like the first part where she told Mr Bruner that she wanted to kill herself and detail how will she gonna do it. and getting a nurse if her suicide attempt fails i thonk that was hilarious!
reply

You left out the part when Nadine was with Erwin. At the ending, and Erwin was speaking to his friends and Nadine started walking away and Erwin pulled her back and introduced her. Really lovely

I am a 44 year old and i can relate to teengers. i have never had a girlfriend, relationship or got married to this day. it is very depressing to be like this.
reply

i literally cried and had a crisis watching this movie because of how much i related to it. which is shocking because i've NEVER cried over a movie in my life.
reply

This movie didnt get enough recognition. It was one of the best movies from 2017 to me. I was 17 at the time and omg, was it the perfect movie for 2017 lol.
reply

Nadine shouldnt have dumped Krista for that and should have tried to be happy for them but Krista definitely owes her an apology for ditching her at the party

I was actually searching for edge of seventeem by stevie nicks and somehow i ended up here. looks like i need to go and watch it now.

Is Woody Harrelson just the condescending yet very important mentor in every movie he's in? xD
