Some more obscure picks: the psychedelic kids opera Help Help The Globolinks! with an electronic score by the legendary Suzanne Ciani, adult Italian Fantasia wannabe Allegero Non Troppo, Flash animated Ramayana retelling Sita Sings The Blues, the black and white pop rock submersiveness that is The American Astronaut, the Flaming Lips Christmas on Mars, the Monkees' Head, Frank Zappa's 200 Motels, New Wave religious satire Night Train to Terror, the classic swing ride thru hell of Hellzapoppin, the Forbidden Zone, mermaid Horror comedy The Lure, Japanese black comedy The Happiness of the Katakuris, and Harry Nillson's Dr. Seuss esque fable of the being unique The Point. Check them all out if you can.

I absolutely adore little shop! My school did it this year and even if I wasn't in this production, I was in a production with a community a few years back as a doo wop and Audrey 2. I was proud of that, and always will be. And Rocky Horror Picture show is one of my favorite Tim Curry roles. Seeing him in the wheel chair in the fox adaption broke my heart, but I was happy to see him nonetheless. And I have yet to see Labrynth but it is on my to do list.

Could there be ANY OTHER flick for #1? As a longtime Rocky fan, I have seen the stage show TWICE, and have lost count of how many times I've seen RHPS. Hell, I've even guest-played CRIM, aka The Man With No Fking Neck with our local Rocky cast here in Cleveland, OH, USA. I don't think there's any WEIRDER movie musical.

In my opinion Xanadu should not be on this list.
The movie basically followed a often used (and usually profitable) Hollywood formula.
It was no weirder than Brigadoon, Lost Horizon, Hercules, Mulan, etc.
In my opinion, the only weird thing about this movie was that it was a huge box office flop.

I LOVE LABYRINTH. Yes, Magic Dance comes out of nowhere. The first time I watched this I was confused as heck by that scene (as well as. actually, I was just confused throughout my first whole viewing. But I have now embraced the weirdness and became a huge fan of the movie, its fandom, and David Bowie!

I'm from Winnipeg, grew up in the 70's. Phantom of the Paradise was the soundtrack of my teen years. Besting that was PHANTOMPALOOZA and Phan Pal 2 in 2005 and 2006. . I actually saw the Juicy Fruits perform live, at the very theater that hosted the movie in 1975. Phond memories indeed.

When I was younger, I used to go see Rocky Horror Picture Show in a small, local theater, and people from the audience would dress up and act out scenes. I can't tell you how many times I got shot with a water gun! But it was such a fun time. I loved it!

Xanadu has no business being on this list. My number six movie would have been South Park: Bigger, Longer, Incut.
This parody of and homage to movie musicals is absurd, profane, offensive, silly, and politically/socially relevant all at the same time.

Easter Eggs (like, literal colourful eggs) were left all over the set of The Rocky Horror Picture Show because many scenes were shot at Easter and the cast and crew were having an egg hunt between takes, but not all the eggs were found

The first time my brother saw rocky horror was the sing along version in theater. He'd never even watched the movie and despite me leaving in a french maid outfit was completely unprepared. Especially when people starting throwing rice.

I absolutely love Cry-Baby and Labyrinth! I still have to see Rocky Horror Picture Show and Little shop of Horrors. Funny, most of these were from the 70s and 80s. I hope crazy musicals come back in style/ on trend again soon. :)

Too bad Anna and the Apocloyse isn't on here. You can say whatever you want about that movie, but it is one the best musicals out there amd probably the best Christmas movie ever.

The great microtonal composer Ben Johnston wrote one of the first great rock operas, CARMILA, which has never been truly recognized for the landmark that it is! It's on LP!

Lisztomania should be on this list along with Tommy. I got to see Phantom of the Paradise on TV while sick at home. I thought I might have been delirious.

The understatement of the century is that rock and rule didn't do good in the box office it made 3000$ on an 8 million dollar budget
