Just saw the movie and noticed every one of those! There was also a tune being played from the original in the background during a scene in Returns but, I'd have to see it again to recall exactly what that was and when! In my opinion, this sequel was every bit as much of a masterpiece as the first; perhaps, even more so when you take into consideration all of the remarkable and fantastic special effects that were used. The appearance by Dick Van Dyke gave me chills. I had to check the internet to see if everything he did was on his own or had been supplemented by FX. The fact that he did that scene on his own steam at his age is SUPREMELY impressive!

it's amazing how Writers who have a well know famous book out that becomes a movie they fuss over the changes made from their book when made a movie. I mean seriously the studios do make slight changes for the movie. if they strickly fallow the book the movie would never be made or be to expencive. I'm not a writer but it wouldn't bother me if there was slight changes from any book made into a movie that I wrote. but then that is me and I've always been different then most people

Three Easter eggs that I noticed.
1. The part where Jacks Lear friends dance with the lights is a nod to Berts chimney sweep friends
2. When Mary Poppins honks the penguins beak, it is a hint to the first movie when the penguin kissed her on the cheek
3. WHEN JACK CLIMBS UP BIG BEN AND STANDS ON THE LADDER OVERLOOKING LONDON HE STANDS WITH HIS ARMS SPREAD AS IF HE WAS GOING TO TAKE A LEAP OF FAITH, THIS IS A REFRENCE TO ASSASSIN'S CREED SYNDICATE

it never bothered me if Dick Van Dyke's Accent was fake or not. I mean who cares I enjoyed it. to bad people made such a issue out it just like the Balloon lady said in the sequel. you've forgotten what it's like to be a child people who make a issue out of the accent have forgotten how it just relax and enjoy the movie or any movie.

The Number 1 thing I missed was the whole goddamned movie, since-like all modern Disney sequels & remakes-I never bothered seeing it. I figured, why bother? I knew it wasn't going to be as good as the original, it would likely only spoil it or otherwise ruin it, the way all their other sequel/remakes crap all over the originals.

I made the emotional mistake of watching the original Mary Poppins the day before watching Mary Poppins Returns. It had been years since seeing the original, and I'd never seen the second. I was a quivering mass of emotions after watching the second one. and believe me, I didn't miss a thing!

They included the snow globe, but in the original Mary took it with her at the end, but yet Micheal has it, they also had at the begging with mary saying to Jane still rather inclined to giggle I see and saying to Micheal close you mouth Micheal we are still not a codfish

The robin on Mary's hat is a correction: the 1964 robin was an American Robin, which would be highly unusual in England, while the bird on her hat this time around is an actual European Robin (simply known as the robin redbreast in England.

No one can do it quite like Julie Andrews her voice is still phenomenal in princess diaries. The songs were a disappointment! I dont understand if the original actress or actor is still alive they should be the ones in the new version!

I will say it is very accurate, Still have the old Mary Poppins movie and now the new one. Truth be told Disney never ceases to amaze me or lose its magic. I hope they continue keeping that same magic for generations to come.

Over the last few months I have loved Mary Poppins returns. I was drawn to it when I saw it in the theatre with my family. Most of all, I loved the song THE PLACE WHERE THE LOST THINGS GO.

Who also noticed the scene where Mary Poppins looks in the mirror, the score of the letter the Banks kids wrote. If you want this choice position, you must have a cheery disposition.

Karen Dotrice also ended her cameo by saying 'Many thanks, Sincerely. ' - the line from the end of the letter Jane and Michael wrote to advertise for a nanny in the original!

Lin off screen: CONGARATULATIONS.
Renee: That's my line! I'm supposed to be roasting you!

Movie is overall great, but I do wish they had mentioned what had happened to the parents, if they did, I missed it, wouldn't mind at all if someone filled me in

I like how in this movie, Dick Van Dyke's character refers to when he played in Stepping Time in the original by saying I still got a few steps left in me.

Also, when the children burst into Mr. Wilkens' office, he says What is all this? which I think is referencing Step in Time.
