I've been on Netflix for years, but had not heard of this show until I heard them talking on NPR about its cancellation, and how upset it's fans were about that. So I figured it must be a really good show so I decided to check it out. But what also sparked my curiosity enough for me to give it a try is that I grew up in the 70s, so I remember the old 70s sitcom One Day at a Time starring Valerie Bertinelli. I assumed this would be a remake of that, especially since the theme song is the same as the old one but with a salsa Rhythm to it. I watched an episode of it and it really didn't seem that remarkable to me, and I saw very few parallels between this show and the old 70s show. The only things they have in common are a single mom living in an apartment with her two children and a side character named Schneider. But this new Schneider is really nothing at all like the old Schneider. In the old show the two kids were both teenage girls, and neither one of them was gay, and the family was white, not Cuban American. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with having any of those elements in the new show, but if it's going to be so radically different from the old one, why even bother to name it after the old one? This is certainly not a remake show. Just give It its own title. This show is nothing at all like the old show from the 70s.

These are great moments but all funny. They forgot how to come out of the closet. When she calls her daughters gothic friend a bat. How the grandmother opens the curtains and dances as she prepares coffee. Endless laughter. Why does Netflix keep cancelling theses great movies and tv shows that are a hit.

this show was honestly amazing. The fact that netflix renewed 13 reasons why for ANOTHER season? like really? that show romanticizes suicide and other topics but ODAAT addressed big issues the proper way, PLUS all of the characters are hilarious
