I think the trailer for Brave gives away the idea for the plot of the movie. When you see it, you already know that the movie is gonna be epic, without giving away much of the story. And this is the real art of a trailer. It gives you the idea and style of the movie without already telling some of the story. The Disney and Pixar trailers are some of this examples. The Frozen 2 teaser trailer gave us such a dark unique atmosphere that left us hyped, such as the trailers for Pixar's Toy Story 4, where we already know that chapter is going to be way more colorful and emotional than the first three Toy Story movies. These trailer aren't made for nothing, they're made to hype the Disney fans to their next motion picture, and this is what a trailer should be, it gives you the idea for this movie without already telling some of the story.

I kinda have mixed feelings about this like yea the trailers can be misleading but it's mostly because the story changes last minute like with Zootopia it was originally going to focus on Nick and in Frozen Elsa was going to be the antagonist until they wrote Let It Go. It could also be so the movies can appeal more to children and adults using brighter elements from the movie and lighter music making it seem more like a comedy. And with the Brave yes it does focus on her relationship with her mom she also deals with changing her fate like she said in the trailer and the trailer did show a lot of action which I feel the movie did bring to the table.

Frozen and Tangled were both advertised the way they were to appeal to boys. That's why they changed Rapunzel to Tangled; The Snow queen to Frozen. At the time, the biggest movie consumers were men, especially during the super hero craze. Zootopia was originally supposed to be told from Nick's point of view, but when they were creating it, they saw audiences being interested in female heroines AND they thought it would highlight the best of Zootopia through Judy's wide-eyed and righteous lens.

Brave's trailer wasn't designed to secure the male demographic at the time, because most males don't care for empowering females. It was designed that way because at the time it was being released, the most popular movies had strong female leads, including Frozen and Hunger Games. They designed the trailer to actually appeal to the strong feminist watchers who were entering theaters more and more.

Brave was the worst for me. I never saw anything other than the initial 'teaser' trailer. So I was expecting an epic solo journey about a teenager finding herself through a harrowing journey thorough medieval Scotland. Maybe some magic. Like her clan is put under a spell and she has to go fix it on her own. type thing. i don't know. i didn't want a crappier version of brother bear

The trailer misleading my preconceptions about Brave was actually a big reason as to why I could never enjoy the film. I went into it thinking that it would be an action movie about a young girl trying to mend her broken kingdoms, but what we got was. sub part to that. It really put a bad taste in my mouth. To this day, Brave is still my least favourite movie.

I'm sorry. I don't usually disagree with these lists a lot, but personally, when I watch a trailer I don't want to know the plot. And I want to be surprised by the plot twist, I don't want them to be spoiled in a trailer. It's supposed to entice you to go see the movie. You shouldn't be able to watch a trailer and know everything that's going to happen.

I disagree with your choice on Up, why would you want to go into a film knowing that the first few minutes will be dark and emotional? Also for The Incredibles I'm pretty sure Pixar didn't want to put the fact that Supers were illegal in the trailers, no other superhero movie had done that as well as they had and it was a good surprise for the audience.

I love the hunchback of Notre dame (even watched it again after the cathedral's fire) but I didn't watch it until I was a bit older and could grasp the majority of the concepts.
Depending on your maturity rate it is absolutely amazing, even the animation-as ever-is stunning but especially do with all the bright colours and beautiful scenes.

Brave disappointed me a little compared to the trailer. I mean, I still like it, and I liked how they really tried to make a feminist movie without making it preachy, but I would have really preferred if Merida's journey had taken center stage while the plot of repairing mother-daughter bond was made the subplot.

The first inside out trailer just gave the false indication that Riley was not a kind person, just because of how she was acting towards her parents who seemed like nice people, and Pixar at the time didnt make movies about abuse and they dont now but abuse is a theme they should explore in a movie one day

Who else remembers the Tangled trailer with the quote: When you've been grounded as long as she has? Even though we get the gist of the fairy tail, that just made it seem like she did something wrong and was grounded for years, or something, instead of what actually happened.

Lesson learned: Never rely on the trailers when it comes to Disney!
Heck, possibly the only Disney trailers that were consistently great were the Frozen II trailers. (And before any of you say anything, I actually think Frozen II lived up to the hype in a way)

Tbh I was kinda disappointed with Merida for that reason? I mean, it's still a good movie, but I really wanted a princess that kicks ass and fights everyone. If I wanna see relationship issues between mother and daughter I can just visit my parents and talk to mine

Ok but why wasn't meet the robinsons on here anywhere? That trailer was so off from what the movie actually was that it didn't get the recognition that it should have. It is such a good movie and any time I mention it to someone who's seen it loves the movie.

Yeah, most of them mislead, but not in a malicious way IMO. Most like Zootopia or Wall-E kind of mislead you so it serves the story better. Cause honestly, would you rather them spoil EVERY interesting moment in the trailer like most movies do?

I would have inclued Beauty and the Beast! I saw a trailer that was full of funny moments! (on the DVD) But the movie isn't really funny.
And btw, the UK trailer scene from Frozen wasn't in the movie like this, right?

The WALL-E trailers hyped me up for the movie back in 2008. When I watched the actual film though, I ended up enjoying it way more than the trailers, simply because it had a lot more heart and than the adverts implied.

Elsa was supposed to be the antagonist until they wrote Let it go, sooooo. but I was so disappointed when I saw Brave the first time. It's still a nice movie, but not at all the badass story I was hoping for.

Animated movies change a lot, especially if theyre CG. Though they do have to do this to an extent. I bet half the people who went to these movies wouldnt if the trailers were more honest.

Did they originally plan to have the hair on tangled be able to move like it did in trailer? Because otherwise that is spending money in order to lie. The others are just poor editing choices.

Clearly the people that chose these trailers aren't old enough to remember some of the TV trailers from the Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast and Aladdin that were seriously misleading.
