You keep teasing with Toy Story in the beginning credits and never include it in you list. They are some of the most popular Disney movies because they were sooooo good. And You've Got a friend in me is one of the best songs. I don't even know the Hunchback songs. I'm glad Randy finally won for Toy Story 3, but You've Got a Friend is by far the best of the Toy's songs and When She loved me is a close second. But I prefer the happier 1st song. He was robbed that year and now robbed again by you for not including it in your list. Colors of the wind, the winner that year, is a good song but You've got a Friend stands the test of time and is unforgettable. I forget about Colors until it is brought to my attention.
Start showing Toy Story more love. I am sure a lot large percentage of the population has seen that compared to Hunchback.

Not surprisingly almost all of these songs are Alan Menken songs! He is a genius! I heard that after he won his eighth Oscar, the Academy changed the rules so he couldn't win anymore, because every time he was nominated he got a statuette.
And let's face it: The Hunchback of Notre Dame is the best soundtrack ever produced by Disney. Alan himself recognizes this as his best work. ;)

I love 'Go The Distance'. I love 'How Far I'll Go' and 'Out there' Great Songs! Bare Necessities and Be Our Guest Part Of Your World (my favourite Disney song to sing) should definitely have won! I love A Spoonful of Sugar, but my favourite song from Mary Poppins is Feed The Birds. Reflection from Mulan really should have won superb song! Circle of Life definitely should have won!

10 songs on this list, and a full half of them were written by Alan Menken! Plus a sixth from him in the Honorable Mentions. If all of those songs had won, he would have a total of 14 Oscars! It just goes to show that he is one of the greatest composers of the modern era. He is in play alongside Sondheim and Schwartz as one of the greatest composers of the musical theatre genre.

I have such a visceral reaction to hearing Circle of Life - literally it starts playing and I start bawling The Lion King means the absolute world to me so Im glad that it was robbed by itself that said, The Hunchback of Notre Dame is some of the BEST WORK Disney has ever produced. Every aspect of that film is utter perfection and can be enjoyed by children and adults alike.

I suppose the tracks for the Hunchback of Notre Dame didn't get much attention because the movie itself wasn't really a hit upon release. But I loved the soundtrack and the movie despite being a kid and even rewatched it several times (in bad VHS quality. They killed it with the sequel though. It wasn't necessary at all.
Still got goosebumps from The circle of life.

The Atlantica segment of Kingdom Hearts 2 may have been one of the dumbest things Ive ever played(if I play KH2 again Ill probably do it again for the ice spell upgrade) but Id be lying if I said I didnt enjoy Part Of Your World! It may have actually been my first time hearing it(I never saw the Little Mermaid growing up but I want to now) but man was it beautiful!

Amazing thing about how far I'll go is that she's 14 to be a voice actress she's only 14 years old 14 even younger than the actual character and she didn't even addition she was just found maybe that's just a story they said but she's 14 come on
reply

The Rainbow Connection is the most perfect 'I Want' song ever written and should be number 1. Even back then people questioned why it didn't win as the song it lost to was quickly forgotten. It's still a cultural benchmark 40 years later!

Why does everyone like La La Land? I'm a huge fan of musicals but I didn't like it at all. I couldn't even get through 20 mins of it without being bored. Moana should have won that. That song is amazing. And the movie is so good.
reply

The song that was never in the movie - Pocahontas - If I never knew you. Couldn't have been nominated. It was only in the ending credits. I'm so glad Disney brought it back into the movie for the 10th anniversary DVD release.
reply

Yes Part of your World should've won an Oscar not to mention this song almost got cut by Jeffery Katenzebrg because he saw it was boring and would slow down the film but thank god Under the sea won and Oscar

Out there is My Nu. 1 Favorite Disney song of all time as Well as the Hunchback of Notre Dame itself being a Masterpiece that move me Several times by both Happiness, Hate, Sadness and Compassion
reply

I See the Light my favorite part in Tangled! However, Mary Poppins will always be in my top 5 of Disney movies. Fun fact: Julie Andrews also did the whistling for the robins in that song.
reply

I can not believe that the circle of life did not win the Oscar for best song it is a much better song than the one that did win my favorite song from the lion king is the circle of life
reply

For me none of them except for the last 4 and the honorable mentions deserved to be on this list and to complete it maybe a few earlier mentions but some of them i was like ummm why?
reply

Never saw the original Mary Poppins, but it was my wife's turn to pick a movie and we saw the new one. Thought i'd hate it or sleep but the music was actually extremely well done.
reply

Friend Like Me deserves way more credit that its gotten. I mean you get the legendary master of Comedy Robin Williams as the singer, and he delivers the tune perfectly.
