I honestly didn't like Jonathan because of the hair cuts he gave some people. However, now knowing that he didn't want to some of the time and regrets it but did it because of the producer just makes me dislike the producer instead. I do enjoy Jonathan's silly, bubbly personality. I enjoy watching Fab 5 but I get triggered and angry watching it as well, because it's 5 men pretty much Avalanching as a surprise a lot of the time, into people's houses, making a huge mess, disrespecting personal items and space and forcing all this change onto the person because someone else decided to sponsor them. Even though it is for the best for those people, in the show to make some changes in their lives to find happiness, I would feel alarmed and traumatized if that was me suddenly having these 5 guys tell me who I am. I feel like every single time Tan saves people from their wardrobe, they end up with Tan's Wardrobe instead so it just seems like forcing people to convert to modern expectations rather than doing what is right for the individual. As for Bobby; People act differently on camera than how they would normally react to things happening around them. I would have sold the place too because Bobby creates beautiful magazine worthy homes but it doesn't mean that is that person's style of home. For these reasons, while I love the guys themselves and I would love to meet them outside the show, I would not allow them in my home.

Tan's convo with Skylar- Tan leaning on him to do the emotional labor of creating this cathartic 'aha! ' moment of empathy for trans men- effectively centering Tan's education and personal growth instead of creating a relaxing moment where Skylar got relax and bask in loving attention like most of the other 'stars' (-- to just exist without having to explain himself for the benefit of Tan and the presumed cisgender audience or empathize with Tan's ignorance) - was certainly cringe
I was just talking about this moment earlier, with my mother: 'and the trans man was clearly uncomfortable, and had to perform emotional labor for. idk how long because its all edited' were close to my exact words.

The Mayor makeover/beard shave. Well that has just changed my views about the whole show. I loved this series and now Im feeling very let down that the production team would insist on something so clearly wrong for the sake of their story rather than whats actually right for the hero. That makes a mockery of the whole show. Im rewatching them yet again on Netflix and now I know this, the episodes are just leaving me flat rather than uplifted. If its so very controlled towards a TV moment like that then its not really about the hero but just a pointless shock tactic. Very disappointing.

Is it just me, or does their explanation for #1 not fit the fact? Like they regret some makeovers? They said Jvn made Ted do it himself (which unless they did some amazing editing, every single shot shows Jvn cutting the beard. That doesn't seem like they regretted it, he just didn't want to do it but it still turned out okay. Even the other salon patrons said that they'd like to see it go, Jvn seemed willing to clean it up, and afterwards everyone loved it. It may just be me but it doesn't seem that he regretted it.

The thing about Karamo driving when they got pulled over. He says he doesn't have his license bc he's filming a show - if he was driving he should legally have a license and the production co would be required to have insurance policies that would require a licensed driver. So, to me, that scene was scripted in order to highlight the issues Karamo brought up.

Bobby doesn't just makeover a place. He does get the consent of people if there are pieces they want to keep, or if something makes an emotional connection for them. I find that in a lot of times the spaces do work. giving people more area, less cluttter. And in cases where people work from home, the spaces allow them to function without distraction.

I am sorry. #10 should be #1.
To knowingly (Lookin at you Netflix) put them in that situation. especially Tan and Karamo. without any kind of warning is simply beyond wrong. It could have went very wrong very fast.
But the defense of the fab 5 for each others well being. beyond measure of true friendship.

That makes a lot of sense with the one hero who was mayor. I didn't like him clean-shaven, I just thought the beard should be trimmed up. I'm glad JVN had similar thoughts, because he's usually so good with the makeovers, but that one fell flat. But now I know it was the producers who wanted that change. :- /

Some of these are blatent common sense - like of course they cut a lot of footage down to an hour. Do you really think people expect each episode to be a week long? Come on.
Didn't know about that pulling over scenario though - I saw it and knew it was a prank, but wasn't aware it wasn't taken lightly!

Oh, right. Karamo and his tortured soul fighting against racism. That's why he only wears black peoples' names on his shirts. Because he's not racist. Lol. So suppressed as a black man, pour guy making exactly as much as his white TV counterparts, so downtrodden as a multimillionaire: ( His struggle is REAL.

Whats this show? Coz there was already a fab five and it was a show called Queer eye for the straight guy and thats what I thought this video was about so I have no idea what this show is and what its about exactly coz this is the first Im hearing about it.
reply

the pulling over prank would've been okay if bobby was driving but they should've just not done it when karamo was the one driving. people of color get killed in the situations, even if it was intended for bobby driving that doesn't make it ok what happended.
reply

I loved the solidarity between the guys in #10. Jonathan filming the officer, Tan not wanting Karamo to get out of the car, Antoni asking what was the problem. It was a shitty prank but seeing them all try to defend Karamo was beautiful!
reply

It's so cool to see Bobby got more screen time in the latest season involving the heroes more in the process of making over the spaces. They are all such gorgeous personalities and all deserve to be seen on the show.
reply

I didnt care for this part of the show. I didnt see the point. It seem to just bring up trauma at someones expense. There
are better ways of having a teaching moment as shown later in the episode.

reply

In addition to putting in the most number of hours, I feel Bobby is the one with the most life experience. He's seen it all and has really done a fantastic job with his life and his brand.
reply

Unpopular Opinion: I dont like Karamo. Ive never been a fan of him. Hes a major SJW, and just doesnt provide as much as the other guys do to the show, and to the people they help
reply

It is such a relief that JVN didn't want to shave Ted Terry's beard. I don't think producers should get that much of a say, if it's just gonna make the person look. not their best.
reply

Why did you show a picture of a female with their head shaved (a student and an advocate) when you talked about Karamo helping other gay men of colour?
reply

Its a pity gay men are still portrayed as stereo-types, just like black people. If you care about racism and facism these shows should also change.
reply

That Prank was a. Bad bad bad idea there is nothing cute about being pulled over by a cop when you are a person of color! Kudos for Tan speaking out.
reply

I'm really into interior design and Bobby is my GOD! He's rarely the center of attention and very underrated but he's such a talented human being!
reply

7: 07-7: 27 Aw, Antoni, don't fret. It's cute that you got covered in glitter. Plus it would add a extra blast of shine to your band tees.
reply

I am SO relieved that Jonathan wasnt the one who decided on the mayors makeover! That was the one episode I really thought hed lost it.
reply

Good thing the pullover was a prank. Why do certain people have a problem following simple instructions from a police officer?
reply

That scene will never stop making me angry pulling over a car with people of color that are also lgbt is not a prank its not funny
reply

Is it weird that I want to adopt all of the Fab 5? I'm old enough to be all of their moms and I adore every one of them.
reply

Im not a fan of karamo. I feel like his niceness is a facade. Dunno, maybe its just me. He also seems extremely vain
reply

Karamo was the first openly gay black man to appear on reality television
Miss J Alexander: am I a joke to you?

reply

Bobby works the most hours.
Well, duh. He does the most work and gets the least recognition. Underrated AF.
