Renee did a good acting job. I think the movie itself was filled with sham. Judy was not treated well as a child but treated more unkindly as an adult. Her autopsy shows many discrepancies in this commentary video, which were considered true. (Examples) Her body showed no alcohol in her system or no signs of it in other significant parts of her body. No signs of suicides. The amount of pills in her system at death were no more than usual. In fact, autopsy says that actually the real cause of death was malnutrition. It was reported that Judy would binge eat and then not eat for days and days) I believe that the autopsy report by a very renown pathologist over any of these drummed up stories. Ive listened to dozens of people who knew her and paint a very different picture and those who worked with her said she was darling and had a heart bigger than life itself. Ann Miller said she was late to the set a FEW times but when she came in she was so hilarious that she had them in stitches with her excuses. They loved her but the directors were furious. Another said that she was so brilliant and so prepared that she could cut takes in half or more so that production moved along faster than if she had been there earlier than even directors had wanted. The things related in a movie or a book, well. Come on, these people stand to make a lot of money off of these ventures especially when they add sensationalism and drama. The more drama, the more $. Even now people are still cashing in on Judys unfortunate episodes in life (we all have them). and how did Jimmy Dean get Judys things. The same assistant who seems to say so much about Judy also said in an interview that Judy had absolutely NOTHING of her belongings, no evidence of memorabilia. Only a few pictures. I would look toward Sid Luft for most of her things. Her things were auctioned off in the US after her death. This commentary video is full of flaws.

Here's one missed. May sound like taking the devil's advocate, but Louis B Mayer was not the melodramatic mustache twisting demon-creep portrayed in Judy (which has become a popular trope in biopics and biographies since the 1970s. The scene where he sadistically chastises Judy for holding up a picture never happened and in fact he gave his all stars every concession possible as did nearly all producers. His caring efforts with mega star Greer Garson was legendary and she always spoke fondly of him. Every movie producer in Hollywood would've had to fire all their stars for slowing production if that scene was factual. Yes, it's true you basically sold your soul in writing to the major studios in those years and the production philosophy wreaked havoc on performers and crews alike trapped in contracts, but this was how it was done in Hollywood at that time. By the mid 1960s that had come to an end giving actors control of their careers. LBM was not the stand out villain of the film industry.

Just watched this film and enjoyed it, Renee Zellweger is phenomenal. While it couldve been a little less conventional, Im impressed by how accurate it is compared to other biopics and I am horrified by how her childhood was robbed by a film studio and how the everlasting trauma destroyed her. Theres a logical reason why Judy described her mother Ethel as being the real Wicked Witch of the West since she forced Judy to perform at 2. 5 years old with her sisters and gave her the pills needed to turn them less into her pride & joy and more into her product & joy, which makes the line Children need their mothers even more powerful since its vital for children in the entertainment business to have a mother and not a manager, just like how Mozart and Michael Jacksons fathers acted more like producers and less like parents. Ms. Garland is in a better place over the rainbow where she can sing and dance across a yellow brick road with her dog, a scarecrow, a tin man, and a lion.

I first thought casting Renee as Judy was such bad casting- they're faces seem so different especially the eyes. Judys huge doe eyes and Rennees teeny tiniest that disappears when she smiles. I noticed in the beginning, she had downcast look or sunglasses on. But as the movie progressed, she really looked like her- she had the brown contacts that made her eyes look much larger and all the eyeliner. Her body and mannerisms were excellent although once in a while she would let a Zellweger classic look and sound slip through- the laugh and the talking below her breath. But overall I was pleasantly surprised at what a good job she really did

The movie takes place at the end of Judy's life, so it shows her as a train wreck of a talented but deteriorating woman. It is a tragic ending to a life of this talented woman. Between her Mother and MGM she barely had a chance for a long and happy life. As far as who is responsible for her death and who is responsible for Marilyn Monroe's death it is the circumstances of their lives. Pills to stay awake, pills to sleep. Can't sleep take a couple of pills, then take a couple more and so on. Eventually the body can no longer handle the toxic mix. Tragic.

The fact that Renee got so much acclaim is BAFFLING. Yes, they were able to make her look like her and her acting wasnt bad. (It wasnt great either) But my problem was: the Voice. Renee has this soft whispy voice. It was ok for Chicago but were talking Judy fing Garland here. The most booming, powerful, incredible voice of all time and thats not an overstatement. Even at the end of her life that voice never let her down. Casting an actress who cant sing for a movie about Judy Garland is like casting Kate Moss to play Fatty Arbuckle.

It is so easy to blame everyone under the the sun about Judy Garlands situation, but the truth is Judy was a weak individual, sorry to say. At any point in time Judy could have said I am not taking the pills anymore I want to stop drinking there would have not been anything anybody could have done about it you are right they probably let her go and she would not be able to work in Holly Wood but ultimately it is her choice nobody was forcing the pills and booz down her throat.

Miss Moho.
They create true lies.
Where is the JFK story?
It's like they purposely omit Judy Garland and JFK connections.
I must did deeper.
Oh shot. found it.
Too fast.
Judy Garland arrives in Hyannis Port. 1940.
Feb to October.
John and Judy.
Odd how the media's say Os and magical trajectories shot JFK.
Oh. just downloaded JFK and Judy at 1960 election.
A burried story of JFK and Judy. before the Os shooting.

It's always amazed me the horror stories you hear about the Golden Years of Hollywood. For how beautiful it was HollyWood demanded nothing but perfection from their stars to the point of killing them. I guess thats one of the reasons why HollyWood in some circles was known as the Monster or Tinsletown. The lengths people go to for fame these days have laxed some but sadly this is the truth of how early HollyWood treated their stars, especially the women.

Not bad there was only one false situation meeting Mickey Deens. The fabricated scene meeting the gay couple just added to the film's tone of how she did connect with her large gay following, and that great line in their apartment about the world horribly treating anyone different. Renee's performance and the film are both fantastic. Showed perfectly how that lost little girl stayed trapped inside of her all of her life. very tragic.

Judy and Jackie are the mirrors in my mind, I see reflections of each other.
Reflections of Oz killing Kennedy.
I see the media's lie about John jr being a boy.
The funeral gave the two girls away. the blue frocks and ruby red slippers. gives the girls away.
Marina / Jackie had two girls.
Marina is a double of Jackie.
An actress plays Jackie to lose Judy Garland connections to JFK and Oz attack.

I felt the movie was more focused on Judy's drinking and taking pills. Renee also could not sing like her. There were some entertaining moments and Renee is a good actress. Judy health was ruined by prescription pill abuse and alcohol abuse, and her problems with food. I adore her and think she was the greatest entertainer of the 20th century. She died too young 47! She left us 2 talented daughters Liza and Lorna.

I know Liza didnt want anything to do with this, but it really is a sympathetic movie. It obvious she loved her children, and did the best she could, but children DO need stability. and the hamburger scene was really sad. The superfans scene may have never happened, but it DID, you know? Poor broken little bird. Its almost like Edith Piaf. I hopes she sees what a legend she is, and how loved. R. I. P.

I jjust saw the movei about Judy and was disappointed that they didn't cover a lot of her life. They just put snippets of things. The movie should have been longer and covered everything about her. I felt cheated. There were many times that she her addictions showed during her acts. They rushed through this movie.

Correction, the movie did show that Judy met her last husband in a party. The scene in which he came under a kart happened as a surprise after they have met. It seems like whomever made this video did not watch the movie entirely.

Being late to a performance is very unprofessional, but sometimes it can be unavoidable and beyond a persons control. What that audience in London did to her was barbaric and she did not deserve that kind of treatment, no one does.

It was difficult to watch her TV show. I was a preteen at the time and even I could tell she wasn't well. She and an alcoholic substitute teacher that I knew had the same quirky behavior of nervously rubbing their upper arms.

Hollywood ruined her as a human being, this was hard to watch she had been used up by Hollywood and spit out. My heart goes out to her, she seemed like a sweet woman who had been abused and used by Hollywood.

Not seen the film yet. Looks like an amazing performance from Renee, who I think is the closest contemporary actress to the one and only Judy with respect to breadth of talent, and indeed beautiful looks.

You forgot to mention the real life character Burt Rhodes who was Judy's musician in London. In the film he is portrayed by a young black actor but the real Rhodes was a middle aged white man.

A national treasure. Great actress, amazing singer and dancer and had that rare quality found in entertainers anymore. Her mother and the Studio System destroyed her before she was a teenager.

I watched her variety show as a kid in the 60s and I remember my parents saying omg what happened to Judy, she looks terrible. Her wrecked health was very evident in her last years.

The federal tax agents killed her. That's the reason why she went spiral down. Should she had the option to be a mother for her kids, that could have saved her from her death.

Brilliant film - but - why was (real life) white, musical director Burt Rhodes played by a man of colour? One can only imagine the opposite scenario.

It was so upsetting it was like she couldn't have a life outside of cameras and everyone controlled her they wouldn't let her have her own freedom.

I often wondered if Judy died with any money left to her name, but according to this vid, that question is answered.
Good ol IRS took it all.
