So if I die on Washingtons birthday are you going to say Washington put out a contract on me? Judy Garland was a heroine to millions of fans worldwide. How dare you single out gays as her mantra? They were a small small part of her fan base. And then to conjecture because she had a gay following this was somehow linked with her death ie the start of the Stonewall riots. Judy Garland, like Marilyn Monroe, complained bitterly to her friend President John Kennedy about the CIA. More than likely, the CIA was complicit in her death. There are too many coincidences ie her manager Begelman (possibly CIA) just happened to be in London unknown to Judy the day she died. Thus while keeping monies owned and ducking any responsibility for her heart condition (bypassed in the UK without a bypass) Begelman was on hand to I think identify the body.

Its weird because Michael Jackson said in I think the Oprah interview that the public WANTS you to stay young and beautiful and have the baby chubby cheeks. When Judy garland got a lil bit of weight it adds onto her face looking almost still juvenile. And with the makeup back then (where everyones beauty looked the same, they could easily make her look younger and keep her. But I feel also her height is the bigger issue, while she was supposed to play like a 14 (idk) year old for W. o. O, she looked like she could be 21, with her height being almost the same as the male leads, and the corset not helping her figure look younger then appear.

The repeated takes of The Man That Got Away were not because Garland was dissatisfied with her own performance -- they were done because Warner insisted on shooting the film in the new, experimental wide-screen WarnerScope process, and using a new color technique which turned out to be harder to light and came out muddier than Technicolor. Director George Cukor wanted a smokey look to the scene, which takes place in a dive bar in the wee hours, and they had to do numerous takes with different effects and different costumes and hairdos for Judy, trying to coordinate what looked best with the new film techniques.

Judy Garlands children have always shared their feelings about their Mother & family. It's an uplifting family history & I thank them for sharing it. For me their is no need to look to other sources for their own history for their Mother & for their family.
I would like to thank Judy Garlands children for sharing their inspiring family story of over coming obstacles & being greatful for the good in our lives. ( everyone has problems, what you do about) I enjoy hearing about good problem slaving skills, they lead to uplifting & real smiles. It's a happy ending.

just saw my comment from around the time this was posted. Emotional all over again. Just visited her hometown museum for the third time last week (and walked away with a stuffed toto in a basket who was just BEGGING me to buy him) I was there as long as I could muster (knowing I had another hour and a half to drive to be somewhere else on time and try and get food on the way). Only $10 to tour the museum and spent as much time in there as possible. a MUST see if you're in the northern minnesota area.

As seen in the 2 photos for this video, why on earth would anyone make such a title photo of a person, and as one of the 2 photos, include someone merely pretending to be that person? I will never understand some people. I have to wonder how they would like the same done to them, being represented by someone less attractive, imitating them, presented to a generation of folks who likely will not know the real from the fake. Good grief.

I cant believe that Judys parents never wanted her I felt so bad for Judy she deserved nicer parents and in movies she seemed happy and when she had her own kids she was so happy too and Rest In Peace Judy garland she was the best star in Hollywood just like Margaret Hamilton
reply

Who stole all that money she made? Garland got the part because Shirley Temple couldnt sing like Judy. Gay people identified because Judys dad and husband was gay and Judy didnt care like most of America did at the time!
reply

That last clip with Glinda is hysterical. She could have been easily talking about the gay community. You are their national heroine, my dear. It's allright. You may all COME OUT and thank her. Talk about foreshadowing!

her parents used unethical ways to raise their child, uppers and downer pills.

Shirley Temple didn't play Dorothy for a good reason. She was molested and groped upon being approached to play Dorothy. The exec groped her and her mother, causing her and her mother to leave.

Happy Happy 98th Birthday Judy! I hope that you are happy where you are. You were so very talented and gave nothing but joy and continues to do in all the films you left behind. Thank You!

#7 is sorta confusing, cause at the same time it isn't true but there's also believable proof that it it is true most don't know what to believe
reply

Thank God they didn't get Shirley Temple, which at the time probably made more sense. It would have ended up just another Shirley Temple movie.

Hollyweird, then as now, is full of satanists, pedophiles, and people who don't mind Doing anything or Using anyone to make Money. Karma.

A star that burnt out too soon? She worked far too much, esp. as a teen and very young woman. She hardly got a break between films.

I see where Lisa Minelli's talent comes from. Their voices are the same. Broad, large, magnetic, strong. Wonderful!
reply

Judy was so iconic. When she sang you just knew it was her. Hollywood really ruined this rare gem of a lady.
reply

Her voice is so beautiful! Might get some of her songs. It's so sad how she was treated as property her whole life.
reply

So sad. the entertaining industry pretends to create people that do not exist and end up ruining their lives!
