what a list.
even just watching these climpses have the potential to make me all emotional.
I have to say I love your number one pic. Such a movie jewel! And so sad. Not only that scene you picked, such a heartwrenching loyality conflict, but also when the old lady releases Tod into the wilderness, and that song accompanying it! made me always cry as a kid. But teaches yet another important lesson: love can mean let be free, ESPECIALLY when it comes to (wild) animals. It may be painful in the moment, but the long-term best for the animal should count more than your attachment to it.
I even have a wild pet right now, a woodmouse I got as a baby, nursed back to health and raised. I did not name the little ball of fur until I knew where the adventure would go (precisely to avoid getting too attached. It was not by far not clear if he would even survive and how he would develop. But since he was still so little when I started caring for him he apparently got wrongly imprinted and stayed pretty docile (with me alone. Figures I guess since he still needed milk and had not parents or siblings at his side. As he would likely not have stood a chance in the wild, I did not relaease him. But as I said, it was the little one's development that determined that step. He's over 3 years now. (also have some vids of him here on my account)
Would he have started behaving ferally, I would have released him for his own good, under pain and tears. Exactly what the nice old lady did with Tod.

Claiming that All Dogs Go To Heaven is dark for a children movie may be true but if you think about it most early Disney movies especially are pretty dark. There are a lot of animated movies that skew towards darkness and I think that its okay to do that if the move is being made to teach a valuable lesson. I am less okay with it if the movie is being dark just for the sake of being dark. All Dogs Go To Heaven was teaching us that death is a part of life and that we have to accept its inevitably without getting obsessed with trying to change it but also that we have to embrace life and live every moment to its fullest potential or at least appreciate everything you have because you never know when its going to end.

Some of the ones that have made me cry (haven't watched the list yet): Inside/Out, Toy Story 3, Spirited Away, The Rescuers, Oliver and Company, Coco, Kiki's Delivery Service, Mrs Brisby and the secret of Nimh, The Wind Rises, Up! defininitely Bambi, The Lion King and The Fox and the Hound, Land before time (the original, Dumbo if I saw them again as an adult. They're all wonderful movies. Bridge to Terabithia and I Kill Giants are wonderful (non-animated) movies as well. And I just remembered Casper, the dance scene and the ending with the Lazarus Machine!

When we are children we only enjoy the movie and that's all, but when we grow up and are older we see it in a different way, we understand and we can even identify ourselves, which moves us and makes us emotional. Some time ago I saw some Disney movies again (after not having seen them for a long time, and yes, I saw them and analyzed them more from profound perspective; now the movies that moved and touched me the most: Coco, Inside Out, Toy Story 3, The Lion King,

When I watched Coco, the ending actually wasn't that sad. I dont mean to be stereotypical or anything, but I feel like the reason why is because Mexicans like myself treat death like a not-so depressing thing unlike other cultures because of celebrations like Day of the Dead where we always keep the memory of our dead ancestors in our hearts forever. Also, we always use a bunch of dead images such as skulls on clothes, toys, and even candy.

Coco deals with many serious issues, not just death. It also deals with dementia and forgetting those you loved in life. Because of her age, its pretty obvious that its dementia that causes Mama Coco to forget Hector. My grandfather also has dementia. It scares me what he does due to it. He gets up in the middle of the night thinking he still has his job as a liquor rep and tries to run away, scaring us!

I think this list is fine. but Up should be number one. They're all sad, and you can argue however you want, but only Up's opening can be shown to ANYONE and get tears. I mean, even the stubborn parent or grandparent who you just show that clip to will likely cry. The other movies on here require investment in their whole stories to get that.

Funny, Up's first part never got me shedding a tear.
You know the part that got me sobbing?
Near the end, when Carl is sitting in his chair, alone, house finally settled on Paradise Falls. He opens Ellie's book, then sees she completed it with their life together.
-Thanks for the adventure. Go have another one!

Wow. Bridge to Teribithia got on here. I remember reading the book and seeing the movie when I was way younger, but I really haven't thought about it much. I did cry, too, when it was revealed the girl drowned in the creek. I was like 'Wait, what? What about their happy fun times!

When I saw the clip of all dogs go to heaven i immediately went YOU HAD NO RIGHT DISNEY just because when I was younger, it was the first time I thought about the death of someone in my life and so I refuse to watch it now because it always makes me cry
reply

Nope. Saddest part is that Judith Barsi (who played Anne-Marie in ALL Dogs Go To Heaven as well as Ducky in Land Before Time) was murdered by her father before All Dogs Go To Heaven was even finished. She was only 10 years old.

(Watches this right after the Anime That Makes Everyone Cry video)
Oh man.
(Bambi is number 2 and American Tail, Land Before Time, How to Train Your Dragon 2 and ET are all honorable mentions)
Oh. MAN.

The world needs more Pixar on the caliber of Finding Nemo, Up, or Inside Out. With all of the perverseness in society today, we need more films with uplifting (although saddening) stories and themes

Bridge To Terabithia was based on a book of the same title and I read the book before ever seeing the movie so I already knew about Leslies death. It was sad just reading that part in the book
reply

What's even more heartbreaking is when you learn the voice actor for Annemarie in All Dogs Go To Heaven and Ducky from Land Before Time was murdered by her father at such a young age. ;w;
reply

Toy Story 3 is dang near saddening, my little child me watching Andy leave was the same level as seeing my best friend change school. It can make adults cry gosh DAAANG GIVE EM A RAISE
reply

Idk if its considered a sad movie but Wally is pretty emotional. With that said im just gonna yell another one that should make the list: BALTO! Omfg kids die in that movie!
reply

I have to ask: why the HELL is Grave Of The Fireflies not on this list. For UP, you cry for the first ten minutes, for GOTF, you cry during the entire damn movie!
reply

I made my mom cry because she loves Disney movies of all the time very long time I was little with Down syndrome we saw inside out and another finding dorry a lot
reply

Sadder reason to cry to all dogs go to heaven, that was the last thing the little girl that played Anne Marie did because she was killed right after doing it
reply

That scene got me crying in theaters and I cant help it, like at all for Coco and the same for Bambi but I wasnt born in the year when it was released.
reply

when i was younger i never realise why finding nemo was my father favorite film, now that i grow up, and rewach the movie i can clearly see why
reply

Nope. Disagree! Where is the horse in the sinking sand in the never ending story? It makes me sooooo sad everytime I think about it
reply

honestly you could just put Pixar as number one. I can barely think of a single movie they made that doesn't make me cry.
reply

Some films never heard of like the American tail, and don't know for sure I had watch the complete saga of the land before time
reply
