10 - he said stay in bed. the illness wasn't THAT bad. Plus, it was 2003, not 2020. Mobile phones were only starting to get popular, so we didn't have them permanently attached, and the messages may have been delayed.
9 - They saw the real Isabella and probably got orders from her to let Gordo do it.
8 - Maybe they weren't sure at first if it was her until Paolo says something. honestly?
7 - Where's the eye roll function on here?
6 - I doubt it, but for the movie's sake, she's the only one we SEE.
5 - See above.
4 - It's the moment you see Lizzie truly shine. I'd say Isabella knew what she was doing.
3 - He couldn't hear it over Isabella's vocals, probably.
2 - I see it as Ms Ungermeyer forgot about needing to go see Lizzie, and going on with her day.
1 - They're both UNDER 18. Technically, they'd both be in high school in Australia. Plus, you explained why this fake romantic set up happened.

11. Some locals say they saw the graduation video on the news, but if Lizzie was on the news in Rome why didn't anyone recognize her and know she's not Isabella?
12. Gordon's lie makes no sense because he was with the class the whole time so how could he have been sneaking?
13. The choreography for the performance was obviously created with one performer in mind even though both Lizzie and Paolo were set to perform.
14. Most people know Haylie Duff sang for Isabella and I used to think she also sang a few of Lizzie's lines, as we can clearly hear there is a much more mature voice in some parts. But the woman behind that voice is Angie Jaree who actually sings the theme song of the TV show.

There's a bunch more. Lizzie and Isabell's mikes don't transmit Wait. Isabella Go, sing. The whole family just ups and leaves for Italy because they miss Lizzie. Would have made more sense to get one of the messages that she was sick. Would have totally made more sense. They actually manage to barrel through security with tons of other people behind them that didn't have tickets, yet, the place didn't become an unruly mob and police weren't sent in after the gate crashers, P and I's songs were all in English.
Don't get me wrong, its a fun movie, it's for kids, I think it's greeat. But, it is plot hole heavy.

It always bugged me that Miss Ungermeyer was the only chaperone. I work part time as a TA for my local school board and we cant even go on a field trip to the local pool without having at least 1 or 2 more people there depending on grade level. My high school also did an annual European trip and they had at least 4 chaperones for 24 kids and these kids are older than Lizzie (14.

The only type of sun that could explain the blonde hair without being tan would have to be like sun in or something like that, but even that would really damage your hair. Ive used sun in before to make my hair a lighter blonde and even being a natural blonde you have to be careful because excessive use can make hair look orangeish and/or really damage the hair

Im also pretty sure In goodbye hill ridge they were going into high school. They also didnt have much on gordo and Lizzie relationship they are both supposed to like each other yet the kiss at the end was more like a peck on the lips they should have made the ending a bit longer by extending the kiss, or have gordo finally telling Lizzie his feelings for her.
reply

I pretty much agreed with every point listed except for the reasonings they gave for #1. The movie had to portray the relationship between Lizzie and Paulo as adorable. its part of the storyline. If they hadnt portrayed it like that. it would have been obvious to the audience that Lizzie was being used or that something fishy was going to happen.

I'm sorry, Ms Mojo, but how could you (and apparently the rest of Italy in the movie) miss the fact that though Lizzie can sing, she and Isabella's voices sound TOTALLY DIFFERENT NOT ONLY WHEN SPEAKING, BUT ALSO WHEN SINGING. This always bothered me, LOL. Fun Fact: Isabella's singing voice actually belongs to Haylie Duff. (Hilary's older sister)

It's really common in America for children to take an extravagant overseas trip to celebrate leaving middle school, and it's customary for the principle of the high school they're going to attend to chaperone a trip for a dozen children from one particular middle school. What? Happens all the time.

To be honest, if I saw someone who looked like Beyonce, but with a completely different haircut that was walking around with a tour group of foreign teenagers, I would assume that she just looked like Beyonce. People didn't make the connection until she was standing next to Paolo

How about you mention that paolo is like hans from frozen. Indeed lizzie was before frozen but paolo is like hans from frozen. Both pretended to be nice guys who liked the girl but in fact were the hidden villains of the movie. The only difference being that hans was willing to kill
reply

During the finale performance, even after Isabella leaves the stage, Hailey Duffs voice is heard throughout various parts.
As if the song was originally recorded as a duet with Hilary and Hailey, but then the director decided to film it with Lizzie performing solo.

reply

You should have talked about how paolo and hans are the same. Both are hidden villains who reveal their true intention near the end of the film, even though hans wanted to kill anna while paolo wanted to embarrass lizzie, and yes I know frozen came YEARS AFTER lmm
reply

Yeah, I never got the sole chaperone thing either.
Ah, I never realized that about the Gordo/airplane thing and Gordo's needless sacrifice.
Yeah, the third act needed serious rewriting.
The rest is just nit-picking, especially the last point.

It was the sun.
Me: natural blonde turning darker in my 30s LOL! Yes, my hair got lighter in the summer. when I was like, 9. Sometime after puberty, definitely by age 14, my hair stopped lightening in the summer. Haha

You guys nothing about this movie was meant to be realistic! Its supposed to be fantasy. Lizzie singing on stage at an award show? Come on! I love this movie for this exact reason
reply

1: 22 Number 9 is incorrect, when the song begins we can see the professional mentioned NEXT to Gordo. All Gordo does is gesture to him to turn up Lizzie's mic. So it does make sense.
reply

Why folks take movies so seriously. The whole point of movies is for entertainment. To live in a world outside of our own. If you want real watch national geographic. Or the news.
reply

10: 20 WHAT! She just graduated middle school! I thought they were all in high school and graduated from high school! They even look like theyre in high school!
reply

Watching this movie as an adult took me out of it a bit because then I noticed all the flaws. But I don't care. It's such an adorable movie and gives me feels.
reply

I don't care if this movie doesn't make sense I love it Lizzie McGuire was an amazing teenager a lot of us girls back then could relate to what she goes through
reply

er soz but some of these are explainable, esp in the adult world
others are locked behind in-movie logic
aaaanyway the movie just ftw. xd

reply

Love the movie. Love Lizzie. But this was an 8th grade trip? Do grade schoolers take class trips overseas these days? Im surprised that wasnt mentioned.
reply

i think the whole movie does makes sense except for one thing-WHO TAKES PEOPLE IN 8TH GRADE TO ITALY!
how they could afford this whole trip!

reply

Ahhh, sweet sweet I don't care about that stuff cause I still love it leave the kiss alone-it was. Magical, after all this time it was still perfect
reply

I still think theres a weird part at the being that Matt was secretly filming his sister in the bedroom while shes changing. so freaking creeepy
reply

Wasnt the whole plan of paolo to use lizzie because she couldt sing? But she was a good singer so she wouldnt have been emberrased either way
reply

This literally just ruined my childhood, definitely the last one. The actress was definitely 16/17 at the time. I was 12 when this came out!
reply

They did that for a reason, trying to lip singing is cheating, that's why they did that in the movie so it does make a lot of sense
reply

Hilary Duff is amazing for her relatability. I love this movie because she realistically portrays many girls/teens fantasies.
