You know, I'm quite shocked about something I read about the Taboo episode on Reddit, you know, the one where a baby is found in a dumpster? Someone was asking Is it just me or did Detective Benson show a lack of sympathy towards Ella in this episode? Really? First of all, she put her newborn live baby in the trash, and in spite of it all she tried to be understanding about Ella's mother taking what her father did to her out on her and she just said, He didn't do anything to her, she just didn't want him! And remember, Benson was a product of her own mother's rape, and therefore growing up her mother had a hard time showing her love which she couldn't understand until her mother finally told her, so therefore she would have somewhat understood the feeling, except that Ella's mother just seemed to hate her, just like her father loved her, even if it was the disgusting incestuous kind. Growing up that's how desperate she was to be loved by someone, and her father knowingly preyed on that. Disgusting and sad. In fact through most of the episode Benson was on Ella's side, believing that her father was involved in the baby-killing thing, that he had put her up to it, but it turned out she had acted alone. She even lied about the baby she had before that being stillborn. Olivia could only go so far as to help Ella, but there were required answers she wasn't giving her. Now Novak, of course, was less sympathetic, but remember, she was the prosecuting attorney, and they're supposed to be on the tough side. And before Elliott went home to be with his family, departing from the remainder of the episode he actually did attempt the compassion that Cragen talked about, the parts he understood, like being in a mess with a baby you can't afford to take care of or are just not up for the responsibility of raising, not believing in abortion, that she could have put him up for adoption, but she chose to deliver him only to kill him another way which was illegal unlike abortion and unlike it would have been to leave him at the fire station without giving her name so they could make sure he'd go to a loving family, and not only that, it would have been easier as well as legal because the dumpster/trash can she took him to was a further walk from her college. The Asian doctor studied saying it was postpartum psychosis as opposed to depression. At the end she admitted what she had done to her first baby and didn't show an iota of remorse. What I'm getting at is, she tried to sympathize with her about her mother's treatment, but she was brainwashed with denial, and/but as for the rest of it she gave more sympathy than she really deserved.

Psychopaths are born. Sociopaths are made.
Psychopathy is just how your brain is wired from before you were born. It's physiological (in your brain, which creates the most malignant form of Antisocial Personality Disorder. There is no cure. Not even any treatment that works. You are born that way and will die that way. They are the most dangerous people out there; because they don't hurt, manipulate, torture, or even kill out of anger, spite, hate, or any other emotionally based reason. They simply do it because they can. If you ever suspect that someone around you is a psychopath, even if it's a family member, run. Psychopaths have ruined my life. They can sense any weakness and always target unstable or impressionable people. Since they have no empathy (they are physically incapable of ever feeling empathy or any emotion whatsoever because of their brain, they feel nothing, which makes them bored all the time. That's why they torture, abuse, harass, manipulate or kill; because they are bored and because they can.
This is just how they are and there is no helping it. It's because of their nature. It has nothing to do with nurture. The only thing that would make a difference if they were abused or grew up around violence, is that they would learn more violent methods, more ways to manipulate, and so on, based on what went on around them. And since they are psychopaths, abuse doesn't affect them. Physical abuse obviously hurt, physically. But mental, verbal or emotional abuse doesn't affect them whatsoever. They don't feel hate, they don't feel anger, they don't feel sadness, they don't feel love. They feel nothing (emotion-wise.
Whereas, sociopaths BECOME sociopaths due to severe childhood trauma. Their lack of empathy is learned behavior. Nevertheless, they can't get better either. Their brain is re-wired, but not in the same way as in psychopaths, where you can actually see physiological differences to a non-psychopath's brain.

I was watching an episode on tv the other day about this guy in college who got his girlfriend pregnant, and then found a medicine that helps with erectile dysfunction but was really using it on his girlfriend so she would mis-carry. That was a good episode, and then there was this other episode I seen with ambler tamblyn(I think is her name? In the show parenthood, was playing this homeless girl, but then finds her birth parents and turns out their rich and they take her off the streets and make her testify against her boyfriend, that was a good episode too. Not sure which seasons these episodes are from? Dont watch this show religiously, just be watching it when there is nothing else on, have dinner my moms house on Sundays quite frequently, my mom always has Law and Order SVU on tv. Also the true crime season they did about the twin brothers who killed their parents in Beverly Hills, that was an Amazing season!

The
911 was Incredible. So very real.
The other two episodes which stood out for shock value was Smoked in s12. It started with a execution shooting of a rape victim within the first minute, and then in the last minute her daughter went crazy, shooting the perps at the svu jail before elliot had to shoot her dead.
The other episode was in s19, the book of Esther, where Amanda Rollins befriended a young girl who had been kept in slavery by her family who were also part of a cult. It resulted in a shootout between svu and the father of the family. Esther and a few of the children were killed. Then right at the end olivia told Amanda it was the bullet from her gun that killed Esther. Amanda's reaction was heartbreaking.
That was the moment I immediately warmed to Amanda.
This series is totally groundbreaking, especially for the US audience.

I just watched an all to realistic episode from season 2 called Abuse where a man is accused of molesting a little boy but when the little boy dies and the man is acquitted it takes a hard left turn into a story about the boys sister who has physical scars but may or may not be abused by her Mother. The family is very rich because the Mom is a singer and bribes or gets rid of anyone willing to talk to the police. Eventually they end up in family court as SVU tries and fails to take custody from the parents as they cant actually prove that there is abuse. So the little girl is stuck in a house with no love and possible abuse. This episode made me so mad that I turned off the TV, slammed the remote on the table and just sat there brooding for like five minutes. I have never been so angry at a fictional character before!

I can't remember the name but the episode that really messed with my head was the one where there were two sisters in foster care living with this woman who had an older son. At first Olivia and Stabler had thought the son had killed one of the sisters but then it was revealed that the woman did out frustration because the girl wouldn't stop talking back. As a former child, that episode chilled me to the bone because there are too many instances about foster children being mistreated and abused

I cried at the end of Charisma when the Cult leader tells the girl that you must kill the liars pointing at Olivia. When pressed by Olivia the cult leader proclaims he is stronger than God. You hear a gunshot ring out and its the girl holding the gun having shot the leader. When being comforted by Olivia, the girl states that was a lie with tears in her eyes. When Olivia questions her, she says he said he was greater than Godno one is. and the episode fades to black. I just melted to pieces.

What I like and dislike about all Law & Order shows is that the ending is not always pleasant. SVU in particular, sometimes left me in tears. All of them (whether plain Law & Order/Criminal Intent/SVU) at times scared me more than if I had watched a horror movie, especially the ones based on real events, there are some monsters out there masquerading as human beings.

I did teach my daughter about getting kidnapped and/or molesters. What kind of things she could do or dont. But i teached her because i was a victem of molestation and rape.
The most important one i thaught was, its never your fault, even if he says he is going to hurt someone, tell someone, always tell so you can get help.

I remember one of the hardest episodes to watch was one about rape culture in universities. I remember this specific one was about a girl at Hudson university who was gang raped and no one believed her. She ended up jumping off a roof at the uni and it was extremely sad, one of the saddest episodes to watch.

The episode 911 really stuck with me for a long time. I remember going on a family trip and watching it and I thought about it for literal weeks. I couldnt remember the name of the episode, and therefore many years went by and I finally found based on what the episode was about. Best episode hands down

Liberties is one of my most fave. When Judge Khoeler found out the his son, who was missing for 30years, was not killed by a serial killer but is alive. The serial killer was misleading him all these years. I was in tears watching that episode.

The episode Pique was the one that really stuck with me, probably because I was waaay too young to watch it. The final scene of the guy in bed with his mother and covered in her blood featured in my nightmares for many years.

You should have put an episode of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit when a little boy witnessed a murder committed by some thug and accidently shoots his classmate at school during recess in the honorable mentions.
