I believe rachal is a terrible person but the episode with her and Santana she was not 100% In the wrong. she supported Santana when she 1st came to NY even though they we're not friends, she allowed her to live in her home even though Santana more of forced her way in not really asking, she also gave Santana words of support when she was down about not being successful & NY wasn't working for her. She did all that even though Santana was a bully literally mean girl who abused Rachel throughout highschool knocking rachal down every chance she got insulting her looks, personality ECT.
I say this knowing Rachel was also a bully & mean girl but Rachel at her core was terrible because she was a talented girl who had to boost herself up higher then others to keep from dealing with the possibility of extreme low self esteem because no matter how talented she was she was at the bottom of the he school food chain her talent didn't change her not understanding why she wasn't pretty enough, why others didn't see what she believed or wanted to believe about herself. It's very common defense mechanism to put on a mean girl personality to protect yourself.
Santana was popular and didn't have the same degree of self esteem issues as rachal she wasn't a bully as a defense mechanism she just enjoyed putting other down.
THE SLAP! IDK? VIOLENCE is never the answer till it is! Rachel was in her home at a high point in her life where her talent's & the person who she always saw herself as was being acknowledged by others. then Santana comes along walks all over her, verbally abuse's her in her home on her high treating her like they we're back in highschool so she slapped her in the heat of the moment was it justified maybe, maybe not but in the moment it wasn't because she was just some monster hitting an innocent friend who was just being a good friend.
She didn't say why are you trying to be my understudy, she said why didn't you tell me that was what you wanted to do. It's the least Santana could have done while living in her house probably eating her food likely not paying rent. So to Rachel it would obviously feel like a sneaky backstabbing moment.
THE SLAP! let's not also forget that Santana slapped Quinn for getting her bumped down from cheer captain & Santana has throughout the show threatened many others with violence.
I say all this but don't confuse me for being a Rachel fan. Choice between the 2 Santana was way better as a character & she was definitely more likable. But the Rachel Santana slap episode makes sense for both characters. Santana had every right to do the audition even if Rachel didn't like it, but Rachel had every right to want a heads up & to feel like the reason Santana did it was to purposely get at Rachel, LETS BE HONEST! Even if Santana wanted to audition it was definitely not without her trying to knock Rachel down off her high horse & to boost her own low self esteem.

in season 3 (I think) when Tina is mad bc she doesn't get the spot light even though she's good, I side with her for the most part bc everyone's reasons for why Rachel gets the spotlight and not her is bc Rachel's a senior but Rachel hasn't been a senior for 3 whole years, and there are plenty of other seniors so there reasoning is complete bs. Also artie deserved so much more he was way more talented than anyone gave hime credit for and for the most part he wasn't obnoxious

I have hated from Day 1 but watching this made me even more infuriated about her. I dont care about her singing talent since there Santana and Mercedes can outshine her anytime. What angers me that there are Rachel supporters out there. How can they even support this type of person! What I dont understand even more is how can this show reward Rachel Berry every time? Even thought Rachel had absolutely NO REASON to be mad about Santana being her understudy, I don't think she was wrong about slapping Santana, that slapping was long awaited and deserved, not for that reason, but for years of bullying. I don't think trying to date Blaine was bad because he is gay. He had doubts and agreed to go on a date with her, which helped him figure out that he is gay, not bi. It was bad because Kurt clearly had a huge crush on Blaine and told her, his friend, A LOT about it.

Rachel is the reason I stopped watching the show entirely. Every time she was on screen and having one of her diva moments, it was so infuriating to watch--especially how she never seemed to get any consequences for her actions. She was a pure narcissist.
