In the end I think the couples should have been
Chuck and Blair because they were never really happy with anyone else and are pretty similar
Lily and Rufus because they were adorable
Serena and Nate because they just fit and are also pretty similar
Dan and Vanessa because they were both annoying but not horrible people (fight me on this)
Dorota and Vonya because they are just the best but they were always together
Eleanor and Cyrus because theyre a great couple
Jack Bass and Georgina which I didnt think about but makes so much sense since theyre both schemers

Honestly I think the writers ruined most of the show's relationships with all their love triangles and plot-driven drama. I personally would have loved to see more of Vanessa and Nate together, and Carter and Serena. But the writers just couldn't have a happy, drama free relationship for more than a couple episodes. The only exception was Lily and Rufus probably, who were probably more normal than any other couple throughout the show's run (even with the love child lol.

Personally. i enjoy reading the book/books a TV show i like is based on. if possible before I watch the show. Gossip Girl didn't catch my attention until I saw the show though. However. I started reading the series while season 1 was being aired. Just couldn't get into the books. TV wins when it comes to GG.

Ironically, Serena doesnt occur much in this list and she had the most unconventional love interests. Blair, Nate, Chuck and Dan dominate this list. Speaking of which, can you do a list on Gossip Girl hated love triangles. Because, God, they are many. I will never forget Ivy, Rufus and Van Der Woodsen.

Man I miss this show! However. i can appreciate that those behind the scenes for knowing when it was time to wrap things up. We all know that sometimes a show may go on longer because fans want more or in some situations a network wants to squeeze as much $$ out of a show. at least 98% of the time. the quality of the show will suffer.

Dan and Blair were actually the best couple and one of the few non-toxic ones. Followed by Eleanor and Cyrus. Blair going back to Chuck really made no sense after everything he did to her. Blair and Dan actually made each other better people. They made the most sense.

Dont hate me. I disagree about dan and Blair. They set them up to be a couple and changed their minds. Chuck was toxic for Blair. If the writers did not eliminate any character development with dan and Blair, they would have worked.
