I have been looking forward to this for more than 2 years now, since I first heard the Broadway soundtrack. I wanted to see the play, however, the price of the tickets was astronomical, so I had to pass on that, especially since I would have had to travel to see it in Los Angeles. This looks like it's going to be awesome, and i've already pre-purchased the motion picture soundtrack [part of which is already released, on several platforms]. I'm already looking forward to purchasing a couple of copies of the DVD, too! Usually, I would go alone, however, a close friend of mine had expressed interest to see the play, so I told her we ought to go see the movie together, especially due to the awesome music!

Pasek and Paul's soundtrack on The Greatest Showman was just utterly terrible. Like, they've dropped the ball there. Honestly, their work in La La Land sounds way better than that terrible mess of The Greatest Showman (of which that movie and its soundtrack were terrible.
Hopefully, their upcoming work in the adaptation of their stage musical of Dear Evan Hansen will restore of its credibility and reputation damaged from the disappointing and terrible works of The Greatest Showman and the live-action adaptation of Aladdin.

I would be extremely happy if Ben Platt, Will Roland, and Mike Faist all reprise their roles as Evan, Jared, and Conner, but it looks like Will Roland will not be playing Jared and I don't know if Mike Faist will reprise his role, I really hope he does. BUT HOLY HELL BEN PLATT IS REPRISING HIS ROLE AS EVAN YESSSSSSS. (also please tell me any updates about the movie)

I'm excited, so I can finally get the full story, since I didn't find out about it until just before the pandemic shut everything down. I'm glad Ben Platt is back as Evan but having just seen the official trailer, what is up with that hair? I'm also disappointed that not a single other member of the stage cast was included.

i love ben platt but its a shame they arent casting someone closer to high school age for evan, especially because there have been so many amazing young evans! my picks would be andrew barth feldman or maybe tom kaiser (not broadway, if anyone else knows them. ben platt will still be great though if he can keep the role

Don't get me wrong Ben Platt is great as Evan but I feel like he's a bit to old for the role and I think it would be a good idea to cast actual teens that are closer to the characters age then casting 20 something actors. For example could you imagine Finn Wolfhard as Connor Murphy?

Not going to be a good fit for film.
Would be better to bring back the original cast for a pro shot live television special. Also the films casting is questionable, they will have to re record the iconic soundtrack with the new cast, and I just don't see it doing well.

I just wish a film version was made earlier! Also, I don't know about you guys but 've only watched the version with Mike Faist but I want him to reprise his role. Tho, if one could wish I'd really want them to reprise their roles again.

What we know? We know that Ben Platt is 10 years older than his character, and as much as I love him, in the trailer he looks way too old. And what's with the long hair? He looks younger with short. I really, really hope the movie is better than the trailer.

Sorry, Ben Platt has aged out as a believable Evan. He's way too hairy to play a 17 year old. My vote goes to Andrew Barth Feldman, the youngest person and most believable to play Evan up to this point. Sam Tutty could also easily play 17.

I was. but just saw the track listing on the album and I dont see Anybody have a map or Good for you - and others. If they only picked certain songs to be in the moviethats disappointing and I probably wont go to see it.

I don't know if I should be excited for this movie because I absolutely love the theatre musical, or be worried because the last time Universal made a movie based on a theatre musical, it was Cats.

Im actually upset that the OBC will not be in the movie. It just feels wrong without Rachel Bay Jones, Laura Dreyfuss, And The Others. I wonder why they chose that.

I despise this musical's plot so much but I respect it and I keep forcing myself to watch/listen to it in hopes that it grows on me. Music is good though.
