It's puzzling that many MG fans claim that it's influential. Previous films - including Clueless (95, Jawbreaker (99) & The Hot Chick (02) - have major characters who wear similar clothes. None of its quotes have gone into general speech - they're only used by MG fans. None of its characters are widely considered to be iconic. I don't dispute that it's an above-average film, but that's all it is.
